How to create 'add via points' functions in my own route planer? (I am using Javascript and PHP)

Summary of Issue: Hello guys, I am doing a project about creating a route planer based on Google Maps API using Javascript and PHP. I have built a interface which can let people find route and distance between 2 points on the maps and can also initialize the map at a specific location. However, I still can not find out how to create 'add via points' functions in my route planer. I want to create this function so users can add more points on the map and create a route in one goal, just like the AA route planer: http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/index.jsp#

Please give me some advices about how to do this. Also is there some tutorial I can follow?

"via points" is in DirectionsRequest as "way points":
