Using SSL version of API doesn't display satellite images

The "SSL" version of the api is not displaying the map images. Note that I'm trying to display the 45 degree satellite view. I'm wondering if it has something to do w/ a certificate error on my development box.

If I reference the "http" v3 api it works fine. (http://maps.google.com/maps/api/js?sensor=false)

Using the "https" version of api is not displaying the images though it does display the hybrid road map seen in the referenced screenshot. (https://maps-api-ssl.google.com/maps/api/js?v=3&sensor=false)
