Currently, only the apartment building category exists, so this post may simply be a request for a new category: Apartment Complex

I used to live in an apartment in a stand-alone building that was apart of an apartment complex (i.e. about 20-25 separate buildings each housing 4 separate apartments).  I'm trying to map this out and I've decided to label the rental office as the "Apartment Building." This allows me to create a real listing for this place, phone number, complex boundary, etc.  Unfortunately for the apartment buildings, GMM isn't liking the idea of having "Apartment Buildings" POIs right in the middle of an "Apartment Building" boundary.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and what have you decided to do?

Can you provide links to what you're referring to?

This may be similar to what I did for my university.  The property/land that the building sits on is marked as a Boundary type with the University as the Category... in your case Apartment Building as the Category.  Then draw out each building and select it as a Building type using the same Apartment Building as the Category.

As I understand from the question the apartment is divided into 4 houses having different addresses. But the apartment building is having a common wall.
Am I right?

Each building has its own number. Each apartment within has a -1, -2, -3 or -4. So the apartment I used to live in was 24-4 Hamlet Court where 24 s the building number and 4 is the apartment number. Hamlet court is the Road its on.

You have not answered my question.
Whether each bldg has independent walls or any wall is shared with another bldg.

In that case , use POI as the main category and ad " Rental listing " as an additional category

My apologies CNR, it may just be easier to link to what I've done:

Here's what I did for an apartment complex in my area:

I created a boundary using the Apartment Building category, then once that was approved I created child buildings also using the Apartment Building category for each of the buildings in the complex.  Finally, I used the Office category for the leasing/management office and attached all the complex details (i.e. website, phone number, etc) to both the office and the boundary objects.  GMM didn't seem to have any issues with making an "Apartment Building" building a child of an "Apartment Building" boundary - my only issue was with the Google Reviewer who didn't like my names for the various buildings in the complex (which don't have names or addresses, just numbers used internally by the complex).

Thanks Nathan, I think this is a good model for other mapmakers!

I stll have a question. Whether the 'Apartment Building' will have a common wall with another 'Apartment Building' in the Apartment Complex.
