The Great Indian Mapping Project-Step 1.

Hello,

Warm wishes to the global mapping community and Indian mappers in specific. A small idea which sparked a few months ago, has now finally grown to the stage of implementation. 'The Great Indian Mapping Project' (TGIMP) is a ten step plan of action which has been framed with an intention to improve the Indian Maps, along side develop and cultivate the Indian Mapping culture. Taking it's inspiration from Global Mapping initiatives, TGIMP runs on the similar DNA structure to strengthen the National mapping community. After a series of long brain storm sessions, here finally is the Step 1 among the rest 9 of TGIMP to come.

To all you avid Indian cartographers, 

-Did you ever had a problem while mapping and felt that there was no one and no where to talk about?

-Did you ever thought of something to do, but did not even attempt to, realizing you do not have enough support and resources?

-You see a bad mapper, report it to the GMM team, yet the bad mapper is back again to irritate you, felt helpless and thought about quitting mapping?

-A Google Reviewer does not see your intent and blindly acts as per his/her protocol, ever wondered whom to and how to talk about?

-

-

-And the list keeps on growing.!

So here is finally a one stop solution for all your issues. We the Indian Google Mapmaker Advocates, along side the RER's have come up with this idea of creating a quick response system in the shape of an interactive form which will let you speak your mind to us and in turn make sure that the Indian Mapping Community prospers. Well we all know how obsolete the Indian Discussion Forum has been right since its inception. So this is the best and the easiest way to address your mapping concerns. We all share the same feeling of the need for an accurate and informative Indian maps, which would be helpful to the society. 

Start using and start sharing the form with as many people as possible. This is one form which has been opened with a thought of some one working on it 24X7 and for 365 days...

Hi all,

Activity for 13th July 2012, achieved by the Mapping Project:

-> 36.2 Kms of unmarked road being mapped in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh. A total of 14 villages are now routable and reachable to. 

-> 14 ATM point locations added across semi rural areas. Thankfully now people who are travelling to long distances by road, can access these on their mobile maps!

-> Number of new villages marked, which no one thought ever existed: 11.

->Correcting/updating the information of 8 Government Schools across Uttar Pradesh. 

-> A total of 48 Railway Level Crossings marked across the South Central Line. (31 Manned, 17 Unmanned).

-> 17 Kms of Minor connecting roads mapped across patches of Haryana. 

->A total of 79 place listings which have been pending for approval since ages have been reviewed and pushed to on the maps finally.

In an attempt to increase and improve the map data of India, I request more number of mappers to start using the form and submit their mapping interests and in turn increase the efficiency, effectiveness of this Mapping Project.

->Correction of road priorities for 122Kms, badly maped as local instead of Major Arteries.

->Marking of 128 Railway Level Crossings along Northern Railway Line. 

   (91 Manned, 37 Unmanned)

->Correction of 46 business listings across South India.

->Reviewing and publishing 58 new civic listings on to the maps.

->A major chunk of Banks, Hospitals, Schools and Police Station's data corrected in and around Delhi, India.

Hi all,

Due to some issues the project could not process the mapping requests for the past three days. It is back again though! Here is the mapping activity that happened around the project yesterday:

->Correction of Road prioritiy for 47 Kms in Bihar, India.
->Conversion of several no traffic roads to traffic roads across South India.
->Updating and effective editing of ~28 Schools across Andhra Pradesh, India.
->Marking of ~232 Railway Level Crossings across the Northern Railway Line.
   190 Manned Railway Crossings.
   42 Unmanned Railway Crossings.
->Identifying and marking 84 Kms of Canal drain system in and around Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India.
->Marking of three main arterial roads around Haryana, which now provides access to 28 Villages, which never were routed to before.
->Reviewing and approving 8 important districts of India which were pending and untouched.
->Reviewing ~48 important listing places and publishing them on the maps. 

I would like to remind the mappers who are using the form to please bear in mind the fact that there is currently a problem on Google Mapmaker where in the roads published are not being visible instantly, which is creating a problem while mapping, which in turn is turning down the output of the project too.

Hello Community Members,

Here is the summary of the mapping activity that happened around the Project since the past two days:

1. Marking miles stretch of High Tension Power Cables at Sangrur, Punjab. (45 Kms).
Based on a request from a Punjab Power Board Employee nearly 45 Kms of High Tension Lines which provides current supply to nearly 23 Villages have been mapped.
A few important villages being covered under this electric cables are Sangrur, Dogal, Ladbanjara, Rogla, Kayampur, Chhahar, Chhajli, Ugrahan, Patran and a bunch of small Villages across Sangrur District, Punjab, India.

2. Patiala, Punjab Power Project High Tension Lines. (41 Kms).
Based on a similar request as above from a local mapper from Punjab, India.
High tension lines carrying power supply across Samana, Meeyal Kalan, Kehri Fatehan, Bhanra, Bhanari and a bunch of other small villages across Patiala District of length ~42 Kms have been identified and mapped.

3. Updating the information and Marking School Grounds for Schools across Haryana, India. (38 Schools).
Based on a few requests from Haryana, a bunch of schools including a few prominent schools across Haryana have been identified for the project. The information about the Schools have been updated and rectified to make them look more effective on the maps. To add more value to the School listings on GMM and GM, a level high editing is also being done. The school grounds along with the garden’s  if any have also been mapped, now giving these schools a complete and a beautiful look on the maps. Besides the standard ground, special facilities like parking, eat out area, bus pick points, cricket practise pitches, basketball courts etc. have also been identified and mapped wherever necessary.

4.  Canals identified and mapped in Hoogly, West Bengal, India. (68 Kms).
A total of 4 long canals have been identified running across the district of Hoogly, West Bengal. These cover a lot of unmarked villages providing a vital source of agriculture and water related establishments along its side. The sub-canals and tributaries of these canals are yet to be mapped. Request the local mappers from West Bengal to continue the remaining part of the canal work.

5. Road priority works in Orissa (3 Major Arterials).
Almost 110 Kms of Major Arterial Roads which were previously marked as just local roads were being reported and were worked upon by the project. The local roads are now a perfect Major Arteries connecting well over 35 Villages across the District of Khordha, West Bengal, India.

6. New Villages added in Tripura, India.
With a helping hand from an authorized agency and with people from the topology related business, 6 new Villages were marked in Tripura which no one thought ever existed in India. Here below are the Villages marked,
-Dulumabari
-Takarjala
-Sirdukbari
-Serhmun
-Santinagar
-Sabedabari

7. Major Artery Roads Nashik, Maharashtra, India.
A critical network of Major Arterials have been mapped which now provides a connection between SH20 and SH8. Another Major Artery running across 14 villages connecting SH8 and NH3 too have been mapped. The total road length of new roads being mapped across Nashik in this process is 142Kms.

Hello Community Members,

Here is the summary of the mapping activity that happened around the Project since the past two days:

1. Marking an important connection at Delhupur (28 Kms).
Based on an input from a local mapper from Uttar Pradesh, an important Minor Arterial connecting SH 36 and SH 9 at Delhupur Village, Allahabad District of Uttar Pradesh, India has been identified and marked. This ensures now that nearly 75 Kms of road length is reduced while the navigation routes in this place. Take that for a short cut!

2. Road priority correction work at Medak District, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Priority change-This slowly has become the most frequent change being done by the Mapping Project. Many roads connecting themselves to SH’s and NH’s, the most crucial roads are being marked as Local Roads in the current system. The main work of the project is to identify such stretches and do the required priority changes to ensure an effective and accurate map. Road priority changes have been taken up at Pitlam Village located near the Maharashtra - Andhra Pradesh border. A road length of 26 Kms have been converted from Local to Minor Arterial. This segment now connects a Major Arterial and State Highway.

3. Hills marked  at Kayar, Kanchipuram (113 Sq.Kilometers)
Based on an input from users from Tamil Nadu and on an aerial survey conducted in the region using Google Maps, a total of ~24 small to big hills have been identified and have been mapped effectively. The total amount of the hills account to almost 115 Square Kilometers. So we now certainly can be sure what one can feel like, when he/she is looking at the maps of Kayar, Kanchipuram, TN, India.

4. Canals marked in Orrissa, India.
A total of 4 canals running across the Nayagarh District of Orrissa, India have been identified and mapped effectively. This ensures that there is a proper canal picture in the area, giving one an idea of the amount of water sources in the region. The total running length of the canals have been identified to be around 86 Kms.

5. Road priority changes in Pune, India.
A massive road length connecting two State Highway’s at Garade Village of Pune have been re-aligned and re-prioritized. Interesting to know that this road which perfectly is a Minor Artery was previously marked as a Local, with a few segments marked as even Terminal Road. Road length amounts to ~36 Kms.

6. Reviewing Categorized listings. (Schools) (38)
An extensive drive to clear off 38 pending school edits across Andhra Pradesh, India to ensure that they are live and efficiently shown on maps. Thankfully we now have these schools showing up in red bubbles rather than in Orange bubbles waiting for an approval since ages.

Hello Community Members,

Here is the summary of the mapping activity that happened around the Project since the past one week:

1. Canal work at Ghaziabad, India.
Approximately 48 Kms of drain water canals have been identified and mapped in and around Ghaziabad outskirts. These form a series of canal networks in and around the River Ganga. The canal being marked forms a crucial source for agriculture, connecting nearly 14 Villages.

2. Road priority correction works at Madhya Pradesh, India.
Approximately 32 Kms of road segments in and around Madhya Pradesh has been corrected from the priority of ‘Local’ to ‘Minor’. These form the crucial sections of road segments which act as connections between Major Arterials and State Highways. Thank you local mappers for reporting this.

3. MDR 32 conversion work at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
Almost the entire stretch of Major District Road 32 cutting across Jodhpur has been re-prioritized as a Major Arterial now. Thanks to the attentive local mappers, this issue has been reported and the once Minor road is now accurately being shown as ‘Major Road’.

4. MDR 104 conversion work at Gagari Village, Rajasthan, India.
Based on a similar request from a local mapper, the Major District Road 104 which travels through Gagari Village has been edited and re-prioritized. The previous set priority was a ‘Minor Artery’’ which affected the important route by being avoided.

5. Road priority work at Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, India.
Nearly 6 roads had been identified in and around Rajnandgaon Village of Chhattisgarh and had been edited to correct the priority. These roads are now accurately shown as ‘Minor Arterials’ which form important connections with Regional Highways around Rajnandgaon.


6. Highway road priority work in Uttar Pradesh.
The most important road which cuts through UP India, the Regional Highway has now been edited and is being accurately shown on the maps. A section of this Highway before the editing, was being marked as a National Highway, creating a lot of display issues and routing problems. Major sections of this road segment are being now converted from ‘National Highway’ to ‘Regional Highway’.

7.  Canal work at Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, India.
Based on a request from one mapper from UP India, 83 Kms of canal network has been identified and marked at Lakhimpur Kheri, UP, India. These are the only canals till date existing on Google Maps. Hope more and more canals will be mapped here on.

8. Road alignment in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India.
A huge major artery across Kokilagadda Kotha Palem Village of Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh has been re-aligned to perfect the geometry. Due to a satellite imagery update in the region, majority of the roads have been thrown out of shape. Luckily, this major artery is now geometrically and locationally perfect.

9. Major artery alignment at Tamil Nadu, India.
Based on a request from a local mapper, the ‘Kandanur-Kilanilakkottai Road’ which was very badly misaligned is now being identified and fixed. Reason behind misalignment: Satellite Imagery Update!

10. Road alignment works at Tamil Nadu, India.
In yet an other case of major misalignment, the ‘Arimalam-Melnilaippatti-Nedungudi Road’ which was misaligned due to satellite imagery update is now being edited and perfectly aligned. Also a few segments which needed priority changes too were also being made.
Nature of change: Local to Minor.

11. High Tensions Lines project at Kutch, Gujarat.
Approximately 98 Kms of High Tension Lines have been identified and mapped across Kutch District, Gujarat. These lines now connect three important electrical substations of Kutch, Gujarat, India.

12. Road priority conversions in Kutch, Gujarat, India.
Road priority conversions have been made on a large scale at Mota Bhadia Village of Kutch District, Gujarat, India.
Nature of change: Local to Minor.

13. Regional Highway alignment at Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh.
48 Kms of Regional Highway at Dhodlamitta Village of Chittoor District has been edited for realignment which got messed up due to satellite imagery.

14. Road works at Bikaner, Rajasthan
Sections of missing connecting roads have been identified and mapped in and around Bikaner. Road priority conversions from ‘Minor’ to ‘Local’ have been made for an extent of ~25 Kms.

15. Road priority conversion work in Bihar, India.
Approximately 16 Kms of local roads have been corrected at Bihar, India. These roads were badly mapped previously as ‘Terminal’ roads affecting both the display and routing on the maps.
Nature of change:  Terminal to Local.

16. Alignment and Road Priority conversions in Bihar, India.
Based on an overlook from high zoom levels on Google Maps, nearly 18 Kms of a local road had been edited and now given the exact priority. This road segment was previously marked as ‘Regional Highway’.
Nature of change: Regional Highway to Local.

  Editing done: Marking of a new Minor Artery which now connects Major District Road 69E (MDR 69E) and Nawab Yousuf Road at Pawai, UP.
  Total span of road segment: 18 Kilometers.

5. Marking of a Minor Artery at Ambedkar Nagar.
Location: Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Editing done: Identifying and mapping a Minor Arterial section which connects State Highway 34 Major District Road 97E.
Total span of road segment: 32 Kilometers.

6. Marking of local village roads at Odhisha.
Location: Udayagiri, Odhisha, India.

7. Marking of Water Canals at Shahjahanpur.

We are back again with the statistics of the Mapping Project for the past week. Due to the busy schedule, the daily update of the Mapping Project could not be done on a daily basis for the last one week. Better late than never, here it is.

After a series of requests and upon checking with the local Government agencies here are a few of the villages that have been identified and mapped on Google Mapmaker at Uttaranchal, India.

2. Local roads network at Kadapa, A.P, India.
Based on a submission from a local mapper from Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh nearly 29 Kilometers of local road network have been mapped which now ensures better connectivity between a few remote villages.


3. Major Arterial added at Bihar, India.
A Major Artery of length 48 Kilometers spanning across 12 Villages at Jamui, Bihar have been mapped. This major arterial now connects State Highway 8 and State Highway 18.

4. Minor Artery added in Uttar Pradesh, India.
A Minor arterial road passing through 12 Villages across Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh has been identified and mapped accurately. The total running length of this road segment is identified to be 38 Kilometers.  

5. High Tension Lines added in Tamil Nadu, India.
High tension lines at Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu have been identified and mapped. These connect two major power plants of Tamil Nadu. The total running length of high tension lines being marked amount to ~ 82 Kilometers.

6. High Tension Lines added in Karnataka, India.
Based on a request from a local mapper from Karnataka, high tension lines have been identified and mapped at Davanagere, Karnataka.  The added high tension lines network constitute to a total of 31 Kilometers.

7. High Tension Lines marked at Gujarat, India.
Upon an aerial survey using Google Maps, the high tension line network along the Narmada Canal has been identified and mapped successfully at Gujarat. The total running length of the lines network came up to ~112 Kilometers.

8. River added in Tamil Nadu, India.
An unnamed branch of an existing river near Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu has been identified with the help of local mappers and has been mapped successfully. The river travels from Inland to towards Sea upto a length of ~39 Kilometers.

9. Fixing major alignments at Orrissa, India.
Based on a request from a local mapper of Orrissa, the Kakatpur-Astarang Road and various other road segments in the region have been corrected for alignments across Orrissa.

10. Minor artery added at Uttar Pradesh, India.
A Minor arterial road which connects 14 Villages and two Major arterials at Badaun of Uttar Pradesh, has been identified and mapped comprehensively. The total running length of the Minor arterial road amounts to ~40.3 Kilometers.

11. Local Village Road network improved at Orrissa, India.
With the help of a few RER’s and local mappers, a selected region of Nayagarh District in Orrissa has been mapped to improve the local road network. We now can find at least some mapped data in this region. Total length of road network amounts to ~23 Kilometers.


12. Road priority corrections at Gujarat, India.
Based on a few inputs from local mappers and with the help of Google Maps major changes have been taken up to correct the attributes of ‘Priority’, ‘Lanes’, and speed of a Major artery at Gujarat, Bhavnagar, Ganghali. This segment now properly connects State Highway 31 and State Highway 36.

13. Villages added across Karnataka, India.

Hello Community members,

As always we are back with the report. Due to minor restructuring of the people in the project and due to new additions, the main mapping work has gradually slowed down, but now it is resolved, and here below is the output of the Mapping Project achieved during the past 4 days:

1. Road Priority corrections at Haryana, India.
High Priority changes have been made to a 64 Kilometer Major Arterial at Barotha of Haryana, India. The changes made include, Priority updation, Number of Lanes correction, Speed value updation. This arterial road now perfectly connects National Highway 71A and State Highway 18.

2. Marking of Paler Reservoir Left Canal, India.
Based on a request from a local mapper, the Paler Reservoir located at Nalgonda, Andhra Pradesh has been edited to be more informative and aesthetic on the Maps. The left canal of the reservoir has been mapped and marked with water polygons to give it a very appealing look on the maps.

3. Local Roads at Haridwar.
After a comprehensive study on the road network of local roads in and around Haridwar, Uttarakhand, efforts have been made to mark as much local road network as possible with a main aim to ensure that there exists some sort of data in these isolated areas. The total road network added in these once isolated areas amounts to 84 Kilometers.

4. Road Priority corrections at Odisha, India.
Road Priority corrections have been taken up extensively at Banamalipur Village of Khordha District located in Odhisha, India. 24 Kilometers of local road have been updated and changed from  Minor Arterial to the present and the correct one ie. Local Road. New connection road to ensure that this is connected to State Highway 60 is also marked now.

5. Mountain Ranges added at Rajasthan, India.
Based on a local mapper’s request, a majority of hill ranges at Sursura Village of Ajmer District, Rajasthan have been identified and mapped comprehensively. The area of these hill ranges are in several hundreds of sq.kilometers.

7. Road alignment work at Karnataka, India.
A Regional Highway segment of length 67 Kilometers have been edited to correct the alignment, geometry and attributes. The extent of misalignment in a few places have been upto as high as 300 Meters. The road sits pretty and accurate on the maps now!

8. Minor Arteries added at Karnataka, India.
Based on an aerial survey from Google Maps at Raichur, Karnataka, two Minor Arterials of length spanning upto 32 Kilometers have been marked which now connect 12 Villages along side State Highway 41. The attributes and the alignment of the local roads in the nearby villages have also been corrected now.

9. Correction of road priorities at Odisha, India.
Based on a request from a local user located at Kandhamal, Odisha, road priority conversions have been done comprehensively which now ensures that the network of the Regional Highway in the said region is accurate and efficient for routing the traffic directions. The nature of change done is, Minor Artery conversion to Regional Highway.

10. Road priority works at Uttar Pradesh, India.
The ‘Kurwar Road’ which connects State Highway 34 and a couple of Minor Arteries at Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh,  down the line has now been corrected for major changes. The changes include correction of road priorities, connecting the missing segments, correcting the road priorities. The priority before change was a National Highway! Now this segment is perfectly routable for traffic as a Minor Artery with accurate connections.

11. Reviews scheduled in J&K, India.
Based on scheduling of States to be reviewed, the first State to be allocated is Jammu & Kashmir.
Total number of reviews done: 196.

4. Review activity in Hyderabad, AP, India.
As per the allocation of Cities for special review activity on a daily basis, the pick of the day was Hyderabad. Features added on Google Mapmaker as old as 3 years have been tracked and reviewed. The reviews vary from simple to critical ones. Interestingly nearly a quarter of them are those edited by Google Reviews, who hardly care to ensure that their own edits are published completely.

5. Special drive on Hydel Power Plants across Karnataka, India.
After a detailed background check and with official information source, there was a special drive on mapping Hydel Power Plants across Karnataka of India. The following were added on to the maps of India,

6. High tension line work at Coimbatore, India.
Due to continued efforts from a couple of local mappers, we now have constant addition of high tension lines which make a proper network through all the electric substations they cut through. A total of 45 Kilometers of high tension lines have been mapped in and around Coimbatore, India.

7. Railway level crossings added on Northern Railways.
Based on inputs from a few local mappers and upon surveillance on Google Maps, railway level crossings have been mapped along the Northern Railway line which cuts through Punjab, India. We are glad we now have more informative maps in this area.

Hello Community members,

Here is the mapping output achieved by the Project over the past four days. Once again a special thanks to all the users, RER's who have contributed in the project.

1.Road priority works at Karnataka.
A road segment spanning 44 Kilometers at Gulbarga, Karnataka had been edited to perfect the priority. This road segment which previously was marked as a Local priority road is now corrected to Minor Artery. The Minor Road now connects  the State Highway 16 and a couple of Major Arterials besides connecting 8 Villages.
Special thanks to Raju, Kalpana for notifying about this.

2. Road priority works at Odisha.
Based on an input from a local mapper due to problems of routing in the area, road priority conversion had been done at Tillo, Bhadrak of Odisha. The road segment which was marked as Minor previously is now corrected to Local. Adding to this, to make the data reflect the actual ground truth, the surface type and speeds across various sections of this road too had been edited.

3. Special editing work on Districts across South India.
Based on requests from the RER’s and a few local passionate mappers, the boundaries of districts across South India have been edited for the following issues,
1. Correction of overlappings.
2. Filling the odd gaps between Districts.
3. Creating a seamless view of Districts on the ‘Advanced Search’ view.

4. Minor Arterial marked at Uttar Pradesh.
An important road segment which now connects State Highway 97 and State Highway 14 at Sonbhadra, Majhgaayi of Uttar Pradesh had been identified and mapped accurately. The road spans a total length of 61 Kilometers.

5. Online workshops for critical issues.
A total of 6 Voice/Video sessions were held with users directly as the best approach to speak and discuss about critical issues being raised by them.
Total hours spent on the sessions: 14 Hours in total.
Tools used: Gtalk, Hangout’s.
Users being involved: 18.

6. Better issue handling and requests accepted.
A total of 8 user related issues ranging from satellite imagery to Google Reviewer rant has been recorded and dealt with comprehensively. All 8 requests were made using the form of the Mapping Project.

7. Imagery requests taken from 6 places across India.
As many as 6 major requests for better satellite imageries were requested across India by users. These have been noted, shared and submitted on the request form too.

8. Slow yet an effective approach of reviewing across India.

Hello all,

After a weeks hard work, we are back with the achievement report of the Mapping Project during the past 5 days. Here it is,

1. Canals added at Cuttack, Odhisha
Based on Google Maps aerial survey the 89 Kilometered Distributary Canal which runs along side Mahanadi River at Biribati, Cuttack of Odhisha has been mapped comprehensively. This now connects the various interior Canal networks and the River.

2. Road priority conversions at Andhra Pradesh.
Based on an input from a local mapper of Kadapa, the 41 kilometer stretch of road network had been edited to perfect its priority. The priority conversion work is done at Pothapi Village, Kadapa of Andhra Pradesh. The nature of work being, Minor priority to Local priority conversions. We now can expect good routing in this region.

3. Updation/Addition of Fuel Stations across Salem-Bangalore connection.
Thanks to a very dedicated mapper, we now have all the Fuel Stations from Salem, Tamil Nadu to Electronic City, Bangalore on the Google maps of India.

4.  Pedestrian Overpass updation/addition work started across India.
A vague plan thought about 2 months ago is now being implemented big time. The purpose is to update and correct all Pedestrian Overpass on all Railway Stations. It not only gives one a complete picture of the Railway Station but also gives the crucial information about the pedestrian info for the lakhs and lakhs of Indian Railway users daily.

5. Planning of mapping Highway side listings across India successful.
A blueprint of the schedule for updating all the important civic listings alongside the National Highways across the whole of India has been planned successfully. A few important civic listings include,
-Fuel Stations.
-Hospitals.
-Restaurants.
-Tyre Puncture Shops.
-SOS Phone Booths.
-Toll Gates and their Emergency numbers.

6. Developing High Tension Line network across three Indian States.
Three Indian States have been targeted and the High Tension Line network between the Sub-Stations and power projects have been mapped successfully. The States and the network added,
Haryana - 330 Kilometers.
Tamil Nadu- 109 Kilometers.
Gujarat- 78 Kilometers.

7. Video conference sessions on Google Mapmaker.
Based on a unique concept of getting one more attached to Google Mapmaker, 3 one-on-one Hangout Sessions have been held with a few new users who have had a few issues with the Mapmaker. Thankfully unlike lakhs of many other users who never come back to Mapmaker, these three will for sure in future make a lot of difference.

8. Dedicated reviews for School listings.
2 days of time had been allotted for specially reviewing only School listings which have been pending since ages. Interestingly these are being reviewed by good users, not RER’s or Advocates. Passing on the experience to lower levels!
A total 78 Schools have been reviewed and cleared.

Hello Community Members,

Like always we are back today too with the mapping output report achieved yesterday using the form request on the Mapping Project. So without delay here it is,

1. NH 91 alignment at Uttar Pradesh, India.
Based on a request from a local user, major sections of National Highway 91 at Kannauj,Uttar Pradesh hada been edited to perfect the alignment. The road segments were mis-aligned very bafly overlapping with the Railway lines running parallel with this important road. The total length of alignment works being done is 17 Kilometers.

2. Road Priority conversions at Uttar Pradesh, India.
The 28 Kilometer road section at Konch of Uttar Pradesh, India had been edited to perfect the priority and the connectivity with local roads. The nature of change being National Highway conversion to Minor Artery Priority. The bad routing problem is now solved in this region.

3. Road Priority conversions at Maharashtra, India.
Based on a special request from local users and after checking with the valid sources, road conversions have been done at MIDC, Ahmednagar of Maharashtra. The huge road section which was previously marked as National Highway is now being edited and properly shown as a Regional Highway. The total length of road works is around 52 Kilometers. In addition to the Priority works, the Road Attributes too have been edited and corrected along this road.

4. Road Priority conversions at Andhra Pradesh, India.
The 129 Kilometer mammoth road segment which cuts across Lammasingi, Vishakhapatnam of India had been edited comprehensively to correct the priority. The road priority work being conversion from Minor Artery to Regional Highway. The Speed values and the Number Of Lanes value had been edited as per the legal values in the said region. We thankfully now have perfect road network over here.

5. Minor Artery mapped at Rajasthan, India.
Based on a mapping request from a local user of Rajasthan, a very crucial connector road of length 15.9 Kilometers which is a Minor Arterial had been identified and mapped comprehensively. This Minor now perfectly connects two other Minor Arteries and the Major District Road 61.

6. Special dedicated reviews of Hospital listings.
A one day special drive to review long age old pending edits of Hospital Listings has been a success. We now have resolved a total of nearly Hospital listings. Now they are shown in beautiful RED colored rather than ORANGE.
Total Hospital Reviews: 58. (Long time pending, >1 Year).
Cleared: 32.
Denied: 26.

7. Road Priority conversions at Kerala, India.
After rechecking with the local mappers and with valid sources, the Road Priority of a huge
121 Kilometered road section had been edited comprehensively to perfect its Priority. The nature of change is Local to Minor. After nearly 1 hour of hard work, this Minor Arterial now connects National Highway 183 and State Highway 67 just perfectly!

8. Irrigation Canal work at Junagadh, Gujarat.
After having aerially checked the Canals and the water ducts inflow and outflow at Machchundri Dam, the Machchundri Irrigation Canal of length 36 Kilometers has been mapped which now ensures a seamless connection with other irrigation canals in the surrounding regions of the Dam.
