I have enabled 2-step verification for my Google account. Since then I
can't log in into web albums from desktop Picasa installed on linux -
Kubuntu 11.10.
I know about this: http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1184000
It did not help.

Any ideas, please?
Thanks, Igor

Well, but I need to log in from desktop Picasa as I need, for example,
folder synch to work.

When you set up 2x authorization, did you not enable another account or your cell phone to receive the code?

You have to enter the code (not your password). Go to the Google 2x authorization web site and setup the code for your desktop Picasa, enable it to send via SMS to your phone and attempt the login again. You should get your code via SMS and then enter that -- should be good to go.

Stephen, thanks.
But it doesnt work this way. You need to generate application specific
password as described here http://picasa.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1184000
And then it use as a one-time password for Picasa app. Unfortunately,
it doesn't work for me.

O yea right I get the two confused.

Have you tried deleting the one created and creating a new one? I have used 2x authorization since it came out, it does work that way. ;) I'm doing it all the time as I create many different configs requiring re-authorization.

Yeah, I have tried couple of times.
It works perfectly for other applications, like Chrome sync service or
Android phone Gmail access, but no success with Picasa. I am going to
try upgrading to 3.8 version by installing it through Wine, maybe it
will help.

It should work with either version. So don't think that upgrading to 3.8 is a pancea for all issues.
I'd contact Google via their 2x Authorization help forum first. After all Picasa 3.0 is the official version for Linux.

Good Luck. :)

Exact same situation, did you solve your problem? I really like Google and Picasa, but they make it really hard to get it to work on linux...
As far as I am concerned, it is working OK with wine+ie6 (.....) as long as the 2 step verification if off. But we shouldn't have to choose between a feature and security...

Unfortunately, no, I did not.

I still use Picasa on Kubuntu, but without sync features which is a
pain.
