no application identifier works, why?

Hi,

I am trying to create a new application and no matter what word I enter as the application identifier, the system tells me that it is taken.

I even tried nonsensical things like "Wyastwwswy3".  So there is something broken here.

 

has someone run into this problem?

No capital letters.  "wyastwwswy3" is a currently available app name, while "Wyastwwswy3" is not.
