Non alphanumerical characters in datastore key_name

Are there any reasons not to use special characters in key_name except documented __*__ form (http://code.google.com/appengine/docs/python/datastore/modelclass.html)?
I have a situation where latitude and longitude pair, used in key_name should fit the best.
