app engine “new pricing” meaning of “small ops”

Hi Google has surprised many with massive change in pricing and
specially the way it is now calculated.

It is available at http://www.google.com/enterprise/cloud/appengine/pricing.html

I have 2 questions on it

1)Meaning of "small ops"

2) How cost of GQL query or fetch() will be calculated, will it vary
with number of results.

Following is a snippet from the New pricing page.

Datastore API
$0.01/10k write ops $0.07/10k read ops $0.01/100k small ops
