backing up the datastore backups

Hi All,

I'm wondering if there's a way to download datastore backups from the blobstore then be able to re-upload them and restore via the uploaded files.
Currently, I only see a way to backup and restore what automatically shows up in the Datastore Admin page.

Backup to Google Storage instead of blobstore and then there are tools
to be able to read and write from there.

Oh - though that won't make things "disappear and reappear" in the
Datastore Admin screen. The Datastore Admin screen doesn't inspect
Google Storage to determine what backups it has (though I think it
should).

Yeah, that's the thing - I can't figure out a way to point the Datastore Admin at uploaded backups.
