Still waiting for my ISP to enable mysql on the fltk.org web server.

Meanwhile, was able to get the combo of the website + mysql
working on my internal office webserver (which I can of course control).

The mysql stuff was pretty simple, I was surprised.

I'm now going through the motions of figuring out what needs to be tweaked
to get the site back up; small things like mods to my /etc/php.ini (argc/argv was turned off!)
and changing all the references to easysw over to fltk.org.

So on my machine here, I can look at the main website page, and many of the links work,
including the STR links and even the newsgroup reader is reading the restoration I have
on the new webserver.

So that's good news.. should be able to move quickly once my ISP guys get in on Monday..

OK, I've switched fltk.org's web site to the original page.

It's mostly working, though there are likely some hiccups and missing bits.
Please be patient while I shake out the website to get it used to its new home.

Things that work (I think) in order of importance:

FLTK Library:

o Downloads (see caveats below)
http://www.fltk.org/software.php

o Bug reporting through the STR system works (see caveats below)
http://www.fltk.org/str.php
As far as I can tell, you can report bugs, receive emails about them,
make attachments, devs can login and manage them, etc.

o Documentation links
http://www.fltk.org/documentation.php

o Articles (viewing, submitting?)

o Forums
http://www.fltk.org/newsgroups.php

You can view the newsgroup archives via NNTP and the web interface,
but you CANNOT POST.

The only way to post is via the fltk.general google group here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fltkgeneral

Caveats:

o Downloads: not all tar files are in place yet.. working on restoring those.

o The STR bug system: *attachments* were lost due to the crash.
you can probably get some of them back by looking at the fltk.bugs and fltk.dev
NNTP archives, but attachments above a certain size, Mike tells me, weren't
cc'ed to the groups, so large attachments are, quite simply, 'lost', AFAIK.

o Forums:
-- You *CANNOT POST* through the fltk.org web interface.
The only way to currently post is to join the fltk.general google group:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fltkgeneral

-- The search feature doesn't work completely yet.
(It shows matching headers correctly, but the message links aren't right yet.. WIP)

o All email addresses for *@fltk.org are offline until further notice.

o The mailing list was lost in the crash, so you'll have to resubscribe to
fltk.general on google groups:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/fltkgeneral

Probably all the fltk groups will be recreated as google groups.
Their contents will be cc'ed to the above NNTP and fltk.org web interface,
but to post you'll have to use google groups, because the mailing list was lost.

There's probably other stuff.. but I think the site is working enough to put it
online as is.

Please reply to this thread if you notice hiccups beyond what's reported here.

The "Downloads" page has now been completely restored (I think);
it was missing tar files for 1.0.11 and the 3.0 snapshot ("latest" snapshot before the crash).

The weekly snapshots have not been enabled yet -- still need to look into that and re-write the scripts.
Ditto for the nightly generation of the sql and website tars for the developers. Or, might just wait
until Mike has restored the RAID to see if we can recover those scripts.. that should happen in the next
few weeks.

I'd appreciate if you could enable the nightly generation of sql and
svn repository (not "website") tars for developers, but only if it's not
too much work for you. Ought to be simple with Mike's mysql command
and a simple tar of the repository directory. Copying offsite would be
optional, so that I believe this could be a 2-line script, maybe.

TIA
Albrecht

PS: "posting" via mail to "fltkg...@googlegroups.com", let's
see how this works.

Had to mod your first message cause you're a "new member",
but you have regular access now.

The mods are myself, Matt and Ian.. I figure a few in opposite
timezones is good.

OK, working on this now -- will reply on fltk.coredev
with a thread subject "Website backups"

Created a 1.3.x snapshot of r9909 on the website because it was missing
due to the crash.

The 1.3.x-r9909 link is now showing up on both the main page (under Quick Info)
and on the download page: http://www.fltk.org/software.php

The SVN snapshots will show up in the "Development Only" section (red).

I haven't re-automated the creation of the SVN snapshots yet
(which used to occur every Thursday night IIRC)
