hello there
after updating my firefox, to firefox 24. I have noticed a fair amount of browser freeze while opening firebug or switching to tab that has firebug already open.
Please resolve

Hi.

Some problem here.
8 seconds to open the Firebug panel since Firefox 24 :/

Hi, I got the same problem. This happens on Mac OS X as well as on Ubuntu. It makes using Firebug really annoying. I hope there will be a fix soon.

This problem is caused by the debugger API Firebug uses. We're working hard on switching to a new debugger API, which should solve problems like this.
There's also a related report at Mozilla to improve the performance of the old debugging API.
In the meantime you can disable the Script panel when you don't need it. This should make opening Firebug and tab switching much faster.

Thanks for the tip about disabling the 'script' panel of Firebug. Before that change, opening Firebug or switching back to a tab with Firebug open was triggering a *** 60+ second *** Firefox hang with CPU nearly maxed. (FF/25, MacOS, 2.5Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo) After disabling the script panel, opening Firebug or returning to a tab with it open is nearly instant.

I do have dozens of tabs open, but most haven't been visited since a process restart (and thus aren't loaded with any DOM/JS), and as the Firebug enablement seems to be per-tab not sure why anything could possibly justify such a many-tens-of-seconds busy-spin just to load or redisplay-already-opened Firebug.

60+ seconds really sounds extreme. On my (comparable fast) machine it takes max. ~1-2 seconds with visited tabs (also dozens).

and as the Firebug enablement seems to be per-tab
Just for clarification, Firebug activation is based on URLs, not on tabs. Though there's also just one instance of Firebug.
