Description of the test case:

Open page
    http://rss.acast.com/historyofthepapacy
Enable Firebug console Net > All
Click on any of the Media File "media.mp3" links, eg the last link on the page, which has this URL:
    http://media.acast.com/historyofthepapacy/episode-1-2-re-release/media.mp3
When this link is clicked, Firefox opens the embedded MP3 player and plays this MP3 URL (different from the media.mp3 URL above):
    http://stitched-files.bwh9c8255b4.netdna-cdn.com/stitch1/historyofthepapacy/episode-1-2-re-release/PdMm6mebebQXp4TomKpp4A.mp3?ci=0e6438cd-7d2f-4716-801a-342aa34c34e5&st=EEV7pDQSQzy5a9tCZxAH3A&e=1475081951

Problem:

The problem is that Firebug doesn't report anything. No GET request to the initial media.mp3 resource, no HTTP 302 or 303 to the new URL. Am I missing something or is Firebug being tricked to "loose" track of the HTTP requests made by the browser?

I'm testing this with Firebug 2.0.17 and Firefox 49.0.1 on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit Service Pack 1

Thanks in advance!

Because the MP3 is on a different site, you need to enable the Persist option to keep the logged requests from the previous site.

Note that Firebug is going away. You should try out the Firefox DevTools, which allow you to see the request as expected. Just press Ctrl+Shift+Q while you're at the page to open the DevTools Network panel.

Thanks a lot Sebastian, works a treat! Thank you also for the tip to migrate to DevTools.
