Hello,

in the DOM tab there are all current variables listed, and it's possible to browse them. How can I search for a string which contains a certain substring?
It would be possible to expand all objects to the deepest layer and search manually, but I'm admittedly too lazy to do that.

This is currently not possible and such feature is not planned for Firebug.

However, the DOM panel will (almost certainly) be part of the native Firefox developer tools and searching for a string in the panel is valid requirement!

So, you can make a first step towards having the feature by reporting a bug in bugzilla.
