Firebug messes up popup windows

I still can't get Firebug to allow popup windows to display normally.
Even with a fresh FF5 profile and no other extensions installed
Firebug 1.7 and 1.8b6 still causes popups to appear as full-size
windows which are completely blank. Disable Firebug and restart FF5
and the popups work perfectly. The popups also work fine with IE8. I'm
running XP SP3 primarily but I've duplicated the problem on my home
Win7 machine as well. I've seen this issue discussed before and the
usual advice is to turn off other extensions until you find the one
that won't play well with Firebug. But as I mentioned I've tried FF5
with no other extensions at all and still have the problem. Could my
problem be the interaction of Firebug and RoboForm? I have no RF
extension installed, either but RF still interacts with my browser
(although again it has no ill effect on as long as Firebug is out of
the picture whether I'm using FF or IE8). Uninstalling RF is not an
option as it saves me hours of time when testing web forms.

Can you post an example page that has a popup that doesn't work, and the steps to reproduce the problem?

I've tried Firebug and FF5 and popups generally seem to work okay for me.

Is it possible to disable RoboForm temporarily, or try another machine without it installed? Otherwise we can't be sure that is what is causing the problem.

I tested with RoboForm turned off and the problem went away. I also found that the JavaScript window.close() command now works as well with FF5 (it already worked with IE8 whether RoboForm was running or not). So the problem would appear to be a conflict between Firebug and Firefox and RoboForm. I'll try reporting this to Siber Systems, the RF folks. BTW, I'm using RoboForm2Go, v7.3.2.

I have the same exact problem, although disabling Roboform did nothing
to alleviate it. I pretty much dont use FF for surfing any more, just
development because of it. Along with the symptoms you describe I
also get a second instance of FF running when it crashes and restarts.
(I dont think firebug causes the crash's, it crashes frequently since
I upgraded to the latest FF. Turning off firebug alleviates all
problems with popup windows. I have even tried it with all my plugins
except firebug disabled. Running 1.8.0b6

Additional, the popup problems effect all social icons, twitter, DIGG
and others. Even google+ as well as popup music players. IE works
fine. I run roboform on all 4 browsers and the problem is only with
FF5

try actually removing it (options) and take off the firefox adaptor... Thats what i did, and it fixed the issue.

So, its something to do with firebug and roboform conflict.
