Hello All,
As many of you are aware, there is an Archivematicamp taking place next month (Aug 24 - 26) in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan.

The last day of the camp will be dedicated to hacking on integration(s) with Hydra/Fedora/Islandora and Archivematica.

As you can see from the attendee list, there will be a respectable showing of Fedora developers at the event:

In advance of the event, I would like to encourage those of you who are interested in such integration(s) to either respond to this thread or float your ideas on the event wiki in order to maximize the actual hacking time.

If you have thoughts on ways in which you would like to see your Fedora stack integrate with Archivematica, let your voice be heard!

Regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

I just wanted to highlight UK work in this area at the moment. We have a project at York where we're building a prototype of using Hydra/Fedora/Archivematica for research data. Hull are also building a prototype. In addition, Jisc are building a research data shared service in the UK which have Hydra/Fedora/Islandora and Archivematica involved.

I wouldn't describe our work as a full integration, more a lightweight coupling but in the project we've all been thinking a lot about how the systems can work together. We're also currently working at the Hydra level. There are a few blog posts which might be relevant, though:

Improvements to Archivematica:

RDM workflows:

Modelling research data with PCDM:

We won't be able to attend the camp, but I'd be really interested in the outcomes. By the time of the camp there should be a codebase and documentation for our prototype.

Best wishes,

Julie

Hi all,

From the CLAW perspective, we've been having some high-level
conversations for a while about integrating the Format Policy Registry;
not at the FPR API level, but potentially at the FPR/Preservation
Planning Ontology level.

===
Preservation Planning Ontology background
------------------------------------------
Justin Simpson has a great video outlining the Preservation Planning
Ontology here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfRtZFiRp6U
===

The rationale here is that a tremendous amount of work has already gone
into the FPR, and that has overlaps well with a lot of work that is done
at the application levels in Islandora and Hydra. Basically, we're all
going to need to create derivatives from archival assets/preservation
masters. Instead of reinventing the wheel in a variety of applications,
why not have a common service that does this? ( Or, am I incredibly
naive :-) )

If this is of interest, it might be worthy trying to follow along in
this[1] thread, where much of the discussion has taken place. As well as
the notes from the May 18, 2016 CLAW Call[2]. And, we plan on having
more discussion about this on this coming Wednesday's CLAW Call[3].
Anybody is welcome to join those CLAW Calls, so feel free to join us if
this is of interest.

cheers!
