Hey everybody!

Last night was our inaugural Eve meetup, which was a great evening to meet some folks and introduce the team. There were some familiar names/faces there as well as a sizable group of local developers who’d only heard rumblings about Eve and decided to check out the meetup to see what it was all about. In the future we’ll probably make a point to send out an email to the discussion group to summarize any of the important goings-on, but for this particular meetup it was mostly a meet-and-greet.

Thanks to everybody who came, and we hope we get to see more of the community at future events! Our next meetup is planned for Tuesday, June 27th, and we wanted to know if there were any particular topics or themes you’d like us to specifically address, even if you can't make it in person. Want to hear more about the runtime? The syntax? Where we’re headed next? Let us know and we’ll try to make the next meetup as pertinent as possible to all your burning questions.

Til next time,
-Rob

Just finished the copenhagen Eve meetup.

People loved Eve is all I can say. Also Goto conference had a representative there (https://gotocph.com/) and invited me to hold Eve workshops at the Goto conference, so all in all it was a great success, even if attendance was low (4 people came)

Also, a very simple way to explain Eve that everyone understood which I heard somewhere on this discussion group..

"Most programming in code with comments in it. Eve is the opposite, comments with code in it"

I guess the main feature that people would like based on the event is:

- to be able to embed an Eve program in a webpage with a very simple javascript JS include to the whole program
- to write eve in a webpage using an Eve JS include and then have native EVE embdedded in the HTML
- To be able to have a hosted Eve service where they can just start coding and build full webapps

Hi Zubair,
Thanks for doing another meetup! Glad to hear it went well. The meetup pages says you were going to do a live demo - can I ask what demo you did for everyone?

We were actually just sitting at the table going over our own meetup last night and talking about improvements to make for the quickstart, the docs, etc, to make onboarding more meaningful and also more compelling. We want newcomers to do the quickstart or read the blog and walk away with an excited and empowered feeling that Eve is for them and they want to learn more about it. The emphasis on Eve being comments with code in it came up, and we think it's a really important point to drive home as you begin to write more and more complex examples - it makes the code easier to keep straight in your own mind, but also makes sharing and communicating your code along with its intent.

Thanks for relaying the feedback for requested features! All of those are things we're working towards :)

Ok, so I start with Flappy Eve so that people know that Eve is not a toy language, and then let the a audience guide me, and I end up showing the syntax and hello world and the clock demo. Sorry I didn't record it, but I definitely found that starting with a more complex program got people's interest much more than starting with "hello world"
