When you consider the
rain gutters on your home
the last item you probably consider is your lawn. After all your rain
gutters are on the roof of your home, which is as far away from your
lawn as possible. So how can your rain gutters and yard possible be
linked?
It’s basic, your rain gutters should divert water in such
a way that doesn’t trigger an excessive amount of it to go over a
single part of your landscaping. If they don’t do this then you are
going to end up with a damaged yard. This can result in soil erosion,
harmed lawn, as well as damage to the plants you have in your backyard.
The best and easiest way I
personally find to clean gutters
is from the rooftop and not on the ladder. Usually if you lean your
ladder on the gutter you can easily scratch the paint. Gutters are not
made to hold the weight of a ladder or a person, and can easily buckle
under the weight. It would be best to find a spot on your roof suitable
for leaning a ladder safely.
Make sure to bring the bucket,
gloves, and hand shovel or scooper with you. I like to leave the scooper
in the bucket so I have a free hand. Wear your gloves, these can
protect you from any thorns or sharp objects hiding under the leaves and
debris. Fill your bucket as you go, be careful your bucket does not get
full. It can be very heavy and difficult to carry with you as you go.
Be sure to climb down your ladder and empty it ever so often.
These are just a few tips to help you
clean your gutters
at home. If you're afraid of heights or walking on a roof I recommend
you pay a professional. Clean gutters are not worth any critical injury.
