Project
Training of Chemistry Laboratory Staff and Relevant
Students of Adjara
Region Public Schools
On 28 November 2017,
EAWM conducted a training of chemistry laboratory staff
and relevant
students of Adjara region public schools, entitled
“Registration, Safe
Handling, Warehousing, Laboratory Usage, Utilization and
Transportation of
Chemical Substances and Waste in Educational
Establishments" in Batumi. The
training was held in the framework of the
“Clean Up Georgia – Phase III”
Project.
The training was attended by chemistry teachers and
schoolchildren from
Adjara region public schools. The aim of the training
was to introduce the
trainees to the modern methods of safe handling of
chemical substances and
materials: identification, recording, storage, use,
partial utilization on
the site, transportation and final disposal of
chemical substances and
materials kept in public schools of Georgia in
inadequate conditions.
Project coordinators distributed Hazardous
Waste Management Guidelines,
Safety Action Plans and brochures produced in
the framework of the project:
“Modern Safety Rules” and “Chemical Reagents
and Waste in Schools”, among
participants of the training. The publications
explain safety requirements
of working with chemical reagents and waste, as
well as recommendations on
transportation and
utilization.
The project “Clean Up Georgia-Phase III” is
implemented by a Consortium of
NGOs “Ecological Awareness and Waste
Management”, Georgian Society of Nature
Explorers “Orchis” and “Greens
Movement of
Georgia/Friends of the Earth -Georgia” with the
financial support of the
