Why we need monthly donors: Please join our community

When a vast area of Brazil’s rainforest was finally set aside for the Yanomami tribe back in 1992, it was a triumph not just for the Yanomami, but for you, our wonderful supporters, who had campaigned tirelessly to bring it about.

When I visited the Yanomami soon after, there was a real feeling in the air of security and happiness, for the first time in a long time.

Since then, an uneasy peace has reigned, but I’m reaching out to you today, Vladimir, because the Yanomami are in trouble again. Thousands of gold miners have overrun their rainforest, polluting their rivers with toxic mercury.

This is an illegal invasion of the largest forested indigenous territory in the world, and it’s plunged the Yanomami and their uncontacted neighbors into crisis.

That’s why we need your help, Vladimir. This month, we're asking you to join our community of monthly donors.

With your sustained support, we’ll be working flat out to push the authorities into action, not only for the Yanomami, but for countless other tribes around the world who simply want to survive.
