Climate resilient
sidewalks and informational systems in Moldova's rural
communitiesIn Palanca community,

the local public authority, are implementing two
initiatives to increase climate resilience of the
sidewalk infrastructure and disaster risk
prevention. According to the local Adaptation

Why in Ukraine
Hutsuls teach children to respect
rainDuring
2016-2017 in Bogdan village, one of the villages
highly located in the Ukrainian mountains activities in
reference to climate change were taking place. The
biggest problems, as the events of recent years have
shown, are destructive floods, mudflows and, at the same
time, lack of drinking water, which is caused by
intensive climate change, in certain tracts of the
village in summer. Based on the local Adaptation
Plan and the risks defined a reservoir
for collecting rain water for houshold use was installed
on the kindergarten in the Carpatian mountain village as
one of the small-scale adaptation projects. For

How rural communities are
increasing land productivity and adapting to weather
variability in Moldova In Mihaileni village, two
recommended measures of the local Adaptation Plan for
climate change have been implemented. The
small-scale adaptation projects are about
constructing a ‘model platform’ for manure storage
and composting to be used by local landowners, farmers
and as well about the thermal rehabilitation of two
kindergartens to cope with temperature variability
during cool and hot
seasons.
