This is interesting. Is the internet public?

If so, FB getting fabulously wealthy partially because they are collecting rent. So, good on Quebec to capture some of this for public benefit.  f

Update your account by March 1, 2019 to make sure you're taxed correctly.  ‌

Dear Frank,

Starting March 1, 2019, Facebook will begin collecting Quebec Sales Tax (QST) on the sale of ads to advertisers based in Quebec. This tax is only valid for customers based in Quebec. However, we currently do not have Province information associated with your advertising account.

To ensure you are taxed correctly, add Province information to your ad account before 3/1/2019 by updating your ad account settings from a computer.

  • Ensure the country selection is set to Canada
  • Add your Province information.
  • Add your Provincial Tax Registration Number if you have one. For Quebec, this is QST registration number.
    • If you have a QST Registration Number adding it confirms you are QST registered, using our services for business purposes and will result in your not being charged 9.975%.
    • If you don't have a QST Registration number, you do not need to enter anything. You will be charged an additional 9.975% GST for advertising services after March 1, 2019.

Update Ad Account

Thanks,
Facebook Business
