This suggestion failed to make their case for a simple point, which is the same reason the carbon tax is so virulently opposed: they are not shifting taxes, but adding taxes.
If they decreased income tax at the same time as they increased land value tax, then the people working would benefit, whereas those rentiers would suffer, and those who are both would be mollified.
