Dear all,

July 31, 1940, The  great revolutionary Sardar Udham Singh was hanged on the charges of assassination of of Gen. Michael O'Dwyer. It was his revenge for the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. He also went on 42 day hunger strike while on trial.

​July 31, 1980​ Great play back singer Mohd Rafi left us on this with his immortal songs, which we hum today also.

August 1, 1920 - "Lokmanya" Bal Gangadhar Tilak who gave us the slogan ""Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it!" A teacher, social reformer and Independence activist left us on this day.
August 1, 1882 - Purushottam Das Tandon born on this day at Allahabad. He was associated with Salt Satyagraha and Non-cooperation Movement. 
August 1, 1932 - Mahjabeen Bano, known as Meenakumari on the Indian silver screen born today. 
August 1, 1960 - From Karachi capital of Pakistan shifted to Islamabad during the Presidency of Ayyub Khan

Dear all

August 4, 1956 - India's first (Asia's too) Nuclear Reactor Apsara went critical at BARC. It was built by Indian engineers in just 15 months.
