CARRHURE has been entrusted by the Green Climate Fund or GCF or the Fund (http://www.greenclimate.fund) to fill the Climate Information & EWS Specialist position. Currently, they are trying to locate a person who is qualified and ready for this position, which will be based in the fund’s headquarters in Songdo, Incheon-Korea.

 

They are looking for team players, and trust builders with the capacity to communicate plan and organize private sector engagements contributing to the Fund’s mission of providing climate-resilient and sensitive investments ensuring sustainable economic development.

 

The Division of Mitigation and Adaptation is responsible for a range of analytical and operational tasks related to policy, guideline and pipeline development. It is also responsible in the update and maintenance of the project pipeline database system and in the Portfolio Management system development. Currently, GCF is expanding its workforce. It is seeking a Climate Information & EWF Specialist who will be part of a growing organization that offers exciting challenges and responsibilities. The main responsibility is to provide technical expertise, support the development of a pipeline of investments within the result area of climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction and support administration of a portfolio of investments. The main task includes providing significant experience to the Fund in stepping up efforts for investments in climate information services and Early Warning Systems (EWS).

 

This position requires a Master’s degree in climatology/meteorology, science/engineering, agriculture, environmental engineering, civil engineering, or a related field and with a minimum of 11 years of professional experience in technical and/or commercial work gained from (i) an engineering and/or consultancy organization; (ii) an organization in the delivery of adaptation solution and/or agricultural and food security investments in response to climate risks; or (iii) a bank or fund engaged in providing financing at scale to developing country partners. Candidates should have experience in 1) in-depth knowledge and proven operational experience in Climate Information Services and Early Warning Systems and in managing consultants and related assignments; 2) experience in at least developed countries, small island  states and/or Africa; 3) working experience in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions; 4) ability to work independently, and as part of multiple teams in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment, meet deadlines with attention to details and quality and; 5) possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a broad range of stakeholders, maintaining good working relationships.
