Dear all,
Please consider submitting abstracts of basic and applied research efforts, including capacity building activities in South and Southeast Asia to the following AGU Session. The session focuses on the Use of Earth Observations in Mitigating Major Environmental Challenges in South and Southeast Asia and covers several thematic areas, including food security, agriculture and ecosystems. We would also appreciate if you can share this session with your colleagues working in the region. We look forward to seeing you at AGU.

Use of Earth Observations in Mitigating Major Environmental Challenges in South and Southeast Asia
Submit an Abstract to this Session
Session ID#: 25874
Session Description:
Growing population pressures, coupled with increased variability of floods and droughts are increasing the complexity of resource allocation and other environmental decision making in the South and Southeast Asia regions. This session focuses on basic and applied research efforts in the regions that incorporate Earth observations to generate tools, products, and services, to support the environmental decision making by governmental institutions, non-governmental agencies, and the general public. The major challenges facing the region are particularly acute in food security and agriculture, water resources management, disaster risk reduction, and rapidly changing land use and ecosystems. Submissions are welcome from researchers and practitioners focusing on addressing these societal challenges for the South and Southeast Asia regions.
