Hello,

I'm super excited to say that the glowing plant kickstarter project is now live (and with a new video!).  We hit 20% of our goal within the first hour.  Please check the page out here:

Please get the word out to your friends about this: facebook, twitter, online groups and forums and mailing lists you are a member of. Here are some sample tweets:

This community has been critical to making this happen, without you we would never have got this far.  Particular thanks are owed to Patrik, Cameron and Kyle but also many others have helped and provided input and feedback along the way. As a thank you we are having a celebration party tonight at Singularity University from 7.00-8.30pm - I hope all of you can come down to join us.

Address: Viente Room, NASA Ames Research Park, Building 20, S. Akron Rd. Moffat Field, CA 94035

Thanks,
Antony, Omri & Kyle

and thanks to MEGA - been very helpful!

PS- if you want to see the designs we have right now - I have them on a Genome Compiler cloud folder I can share with you.

As for now: $19,500 in less than 3 hours!
Can't wait to see it happen.

Are we sure the $10k wasn't someone from the group that donated to themselves?

Cheap media PR for Cambrian, especially if they're still charging $0.25/bp to this group... seems plausible

Does the watermarking mean that the codons will not be optimized for expression?

Watermarking?

We definitely will do codon optimization in the nucleus design,
the chloroplast design doesn't need because it "speaks" bacterial codon usage.

My mistake, I was looking at the $10,000 dollar reward and I had a misconception about how the 30 character string was encoded.

I just read about how venter did the watermarking in M. laboratorium, and he's not doing double-duty. The watermark is just a message. I had the idea in my head that he embedded the messages with steganography, swapping synonymous codons with respect to the codon usage in the target organism.

I googled and found the paper that gave me that idea:

Do you have them in genbank format? For some reason safari doesn't want me to get genome complier.... :(

+1 for open formats not requiring Adobe anything.
