Subject: [diybio] open source colorimeter kit on Kickstarter
To: DIYBio <
la-bio...@googlegroups.com>
Hi everyone,
We (IO Rodeo) recently launched a DIY colorimeter kit on Kickstarter. The idea behind this project is to produce an
affordable colorimeter which is completely open source - designs and
software - and programmable for more advanced students/users. The ability for users to actually build their own colorimeter from a kit was
important to us when we designed it. Unlike the usual out-of-the-box biology
instrument (which can be somewhat of a mystery unless you like digging
around manuals) with this approach users can see how the electronics
work, how everything is connected, what the software is doing etc. and
can ultimately hack it or modify it for projects or other tasks. The
colorimeter itself connects to an Arduino and we have put a bunch of additional resources on our website at
www.iorodeo.com/colorimeter.
Cheers and hope all is going well with your projects,
Jo
