Linda Kahl, a researcher from the Endy lab at Stanford, is conducting a survey on enabling technologies for synthetic biology.  I believe she is interested in understanding the basis set of tools in the synthetic biologists "tool box" so she can then evaluate the property rights of these tools.

If you've ever been on an igem team, check it out.  A side effect of the survey is that it provides a fairly big list of ´existing synthetic biology tools and methods, which is interesting in and of itself.

Hey,
I am really interested in knowing about the tools and methods used in synbio. I'm new to this field and havent been a part of any iGEM team yet. So I wont be able to contribute to the Survey. Although, I was hoping you could post the email from the Endy lab that contains the Summary of the Results, when they send it in the near future, so that u can share it with everyone on this forum.

Thanks
Best Regards,
Shreyans

there are 3 on the top of my head:

1) cheap DNA (synthesis/construction/error free)
2) Design tools (Genome Compiler :-)
3) Cheap / high throughput testing

I believe a critical component of igem technology revolves around t-shirt design skills.
