There was a code for Canada... not sure if they're part of the EU
since they hail to the Queen of England.

We Canadians aren't EU members.

Still, most primers are less than 30mers. $0.30 is still nothing.

But that's 30x more than they were offering at.

I'd be interested in what other folks are ordering. I need to do a bit more research on what the most common barcoding primer sets are that I want. I'll post back by tomorrow night if anyone else is interested.

fyi - had to create an account and answer questions from a human, so register tomorrow if you want to order thurs.

So... wait, I can only order 10 oligos (5 primer sets)? Ooooh, tough choice.... :(

Well, it went pretty well for me-- I got some degenerate primers, and a few that were over 30bp.

For those are interested in what I got:

I ordered two pairs of microsatellite primers reported for Taraxacum officinale (common dandelion) in (2) and successfully used in multiplex PCR in (1), modified with M13(-21) tails as described in (3). That's the dandelion part; now I just lack corresponding M13(-21) oligos with fluorescent tags, and if I somehow manage to get those, I could maybe do some multiplex PCR on dandelion microsatellites and get a fragment analysis from the University of New Mexico.

On the Triops front, I got the COI primers reported from (4), the degenerate primers used to amplify the extant snippet of caudal from T. longicaudatus (reported in a dissertation), and the adaptor primers used with XhoI in (5). Unfortunately, I discovered that I don't have any way to get DNA out of my T. cancriformis specimen after all, so I'm in a jam, because that's my last non-preserved specimen and it'll take two months to get another cohort of critters. I've got to fix this situation as soon as possible.

There was no way I could possibly have afforded this without the Primer Day offer, and I'm very glad I caught word of it.
