Error on Windows 7 32-bit

I'm having several problems here.

I'm trying to create a project. After I add a video and click to add a
subtitle, I get this error message:

"The folder contents could not be displayed
Invalid byte sequence in conversion input."

It still allows me to add a subtitle. When I try to preview, this is
the message I get:

"Error
Failed to write to the destination directory.
Check that you have privileges and free space there."

and no preview is shown. Then I click OK, then on properties of the
video file and the "invalid byte sequence" error shows up again and
the video file that I previously selected is not there anymore.

Then I chose the file again, press OK and Forward to try creating the
DVD. Once I select the folder and press OK, the "failed to write to
the destination directory" error shows up again.
