FRC, EX-GAYS TO DEMONSTRATE AT APA CONVENTION
"Psychologists in the APA must recognize the real change in
my own life as well as thousands of others across the
nation," says Mrs. Yvette Schneider.
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Monday, August 7th, at 12:30pm,
Yvette Schneider, Family Research Council policy analyst and
former lesbian activist, will join members of national ex-
gay organizations to participate in a demonstration outside
the Washington, D.C. Convention Center, where the American
Psychological Association (APA) convention is meeting.
Later that day, the APA is scheduled to hold a panel
discussion to debate the merits of reparative therapy to
help people overcome homosexuality. FRC will distribute
copies of Mrs. Schneider's new paper, "The Gay Gene: Going,
Going, Gone," an analysis of scientific studies
investigating the so-called "gay gene".
"I am living proof that homosexuals can change and that
there is no such thing as a 'gay gene,'" Mrs. Schneider said
Monday. "Psychologists in the APA must recognize the real
change in my own life as well as thousands of others across
the nation." Mrs. Schneider, formerly Yvette Cantu,
practiced homosexuality for six years and was active in
promoting the homosexual agenda. She left the "lifestyle"
seven years ago and was married to Paul Schneider last
December.
The APA has declared reparative therapies ineffective and
that "it can do more harm than good." However, thousands of
men, women and adolescents have been changed through
effective therapy and transitioned from gay to straight.
Many of them report that they did so after inviting Jesus
Christ into their hearts.
At the demonstration Monday, Mrs. Schneider will join other
former homosexuals as well as parents and friends of
homosexuals to ask members of the APA to officially
recognize the success of reparative therapy for scores of
homosexuals across the nation.
Participants in the demonstration will include members of
PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays), JONAH (Jews Offering
New Alternatives to Homosexuality), and other national ex-
gay ministries.
