Marko,

I see you are now set to use ojdbc6.jar with DBSolo5 (see below).

If not too much of a hassle for you, I would strongly suggest to use the new ojdbc7.jar , which is the new 12C (and earlier) compatible driver.  We have been utilizing ojdbc7.jar for our product/s (tested) against 10gR2 , 11gR2 or 12c and have zero issue so far.

Given Oracle Corp. is pushing big time for the 12C, it would be nice to have 100 % compatibility against Oracle 12C by utilizing the ojdbc7.jar

Just a recommendation.

Hi,

The included ojdbc6.jar is the latest 12c driver. The only difference between ojdbc6.jar and ojdbc7.jar is that the latter one is compiled with Java 7. Since DB Solo is at least for now using Java 6, it can only include ojdbc6.jar. In terms of functionality the versions are identical.

Thanks
Marko

Marko,

I understand.

However, once you release DBSolo version 5.0, there is no way for the end users of DB Solo 5 to be able to use / assign ojdbc7.jar instead of ojdbc6.jar (default - for now) - until you release another DB Solo version - interim or major.

Even Java version 8 is out and because of the security, we - as in house development - prefer using Java 7 - given that it has a longer - officially announced (by Oracle) support time span (vs Java 1.6).

I personally prefer DB Solo 5 final release - compiled / uses Java 7 versus 1.6

It is your call

Here is a public reference URL available on Oracle's home page regarding Java SE support cycle

Hi,

It is definitely in the plans to upgrade the Java version to 7 in the near future. Most likely it will happen before the 5.0 release is out.
