I don't mean to steal anyone's thunder but I couldn't help notice that Archivematica has announced (below) a new integration with Dataverse, supported by our friends at Scholars Portal.

It would be lovely if someone were to create an issue and a pull request to mention Archivematica on a future version of http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.9.4/admin/integrations.html

Thank you, Scholars Portal and Archivematica!

Phil

Subject: [archivematica] Archivematica 1.8 and Storage Service 0.13 released
To: <archiv...@googlegroups.com>

Dear Archivematica user community,

We're pleased to announce the release of Archivematica 1.8 and Storage Service 0.13! This release includes a number of enhancements and fixes. Some highlights include:

Dataverse integration: This feature allows you to connect Dataverse as a transfer source and make SIPs/AIPs from datasets in Dataverse. The integration uses a number of Dataverse features to enhance the AIP METS and includes a Dataverse METS file. This feature has been sponsored by Scholar's Portal, a service of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL). Thank you! Please see the release notes for further details on the workflow and some current limitations.

Package store in DSpace via REST APi: This feature was contributed/sponsored by the University of Edinburgh and allows AIP/DIP storage in DSpace via the REST API. Thank you!

Scalability and workflow enhancements: Quite a number of fixes and changes have been sponsored in this release by Jisc, as part of the Research Data Shared Service, and by Columbia University Library, as a continuation of scalability work in 1.7 and 1.7.1, to make Archivematica work faster and easier with large numbers/size of files.

For (many!) more details and a list of bug fixes please see the release notes: https://wiki.archivematica.org/Archivematica_1.8_and_Storage_Service_0.13_release_notes

Note: As posted previously on the list we are proposing that this release is the last to support integration with Archivists Toolkit. We're still happy to receive community feedback on that matter- please feel free to follow up either on or off list.

Looking forward to hearing your feedback on this release. Thanks for your interest!

Best,

Sarah

Hi Phil, and all, thanks for the mention about the Archivematica release! We are really excited about it too! Artefactual has some great documentation about the release and we are preparing some testing materials and an announcement for the community soon.

We will update the main issue soon and look into a pull request to update documentation on this integrations shortly.

Best,
Amber

Perfect! Thank you, Amber! I just moved that issue to the top of the "Community Dev" column at https://waffle.io/IQSS/dataverse so I can more easily drag it over when the pull request comes in. Yes, the Archivematica docs about the integration look great.

Thanks,

Phil

Just wanted to follow up with an announcement about our sandbox!

Dataverse-Archivematica Integration Now Available for Testing

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) and Scholars Portal are pleased to announce that the first version of the Dataverse-Archivematica integration for long-term dataset preservation is now available for community testing and feedback.

For the past several years the Scholars Portal team has been working with Artefactual Systems Inc. to create an integration between the preservation processing tool Archivematica and Dataverse. This technical integration enables users of Archivematica to select and copy datasets from Dataverse instances and process them for long-term access and digital preservation. The Archival Information Packages (AIPs) include metadata and all files stored by Dataverse, and are packaged for long-term storage and management using Archivematica’s standards-compliant workflow. Integration between Archivematica and Dataverse expands capacity to preserve research data, opening up new avenues for librarians and archivists to make valuable research outputs accessible into the future.

We are happy to announce that this integration is available in the most recent 1.8 release of Archivematica. A demo sandbox provided by Scholars Portal is now ready for testing and feedback by community members for a limited period. Click for instructions and login information for the sandbox.

A more detailed white paper about the integration will be released after the testing period is completed.

To learn more about this project, please see Archivematica’s wiki or contact data...@scholarsportal.info with any questions or feedback.
