Notes

* CoreTrustSeal Certification
   * Sonia - lots of interest from Community
      * Who cares about this?
         * Journals care about the curation levels and this is a way of indicating this
         * Key in driving traffic to repositories
         * Growing in the future
         * Could be a facet in the future
   * We all have to apply separately, but what can we share with each other?
      * How to handle repositories where not all the data would be certified (ex. Murray at Harvard)
      * Look at both guidelines and extended guidelines
   * QDR - ready to submit
   * UCLA - started when it was the old organization
   * Harvard Dataverse - not started, goal of finishing by the end of the year
   * CTS does have a tier for self-curated repositories
      * This opens up as an option Harvard Dataverse (beyond Murray)
   * Odum well on the way, Jon is part of the review process for this
      * The process is responsive to new information
   * Process
      * Identify a designated community that the repository will serve
      * Specify a specific collection (ex. Murray)
   * Questions
      * Is it possible to certify a whole dataverse installation?
      * Is there a way to take advantage of a bulk discount (10+)?
   * Next steps
      * Sonia will start a Google Group
* #dataverse2018 proposals
   * Will we have posters?
* 4.8.6
   * Modular explore integration main point in release notes; split this off due to 4.9 timeline
   * 4.9 coming
* Community Questions
   * Is anyone using the Ansible script to deploy Dataverse?
      * Jon from Odum is happy to help, feel free to contact directly or on Google Group
   * https://data.qdr.syr.edu is live!
      * May want to adjust robots.txt. See http://guides.dataverse.org/en/4.8.6/installation/config.html#letting-search-engines-crawl-your-installation
   * TDL - some researchers have many files (hundreds) they’d like to add to Datasets, what are people in the community doing to handle these cases?
      * Drag and drop - it will take awhile, but will work
      * Zip files may be an option
      * Are client-side checksums important for these researchers?
         * Need to check with the researchers
         * This becomes important as the number of files increases
      * Odum is working on Trusted External Storage sources for Dataverse, where the metadata and checksums are kept local and transmitted back to Dataverse
   * Odum
      * External Tools - this is an exciting new area for the Dataverse Community: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/dataverse-community/VG6gTMEd_Ps/Xy7jDhVoBwAJ
         * Would be good to submit a proposal and explore other ways to have discussions at the Dataverse Community Meeting
         * Odum is early on in the process, still putting out proposals and has early builds
      * Global Consortium
         * Continuing talks, timeline being driven by EZID > Datacite transitions
         * Formal organization and governance structure is the first priority
         * Stay tuned!
