I'm heading to PIDapalooza 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal January 29-30 and would be happy to meet up with other Dataverse enthusiasts there!

For the uninitiated, PID is short for "persistent identifier" which could be a DOI, Handle, ORCID ID, etc.

Sadly, my talk ("Dataverse is crawling with PIDs") was not accepted in "a very competitive year" but the schedule is up (attached) and there are lots of interesting talks: https://www.pidapalooza.org/schedule

Also, the PID Forum has a whole category dedicated to PIDapalooza: https://www.pidforum.org/c/pidapalooza

If you'll be in Lisbon, please let me know!

Thanks,

Phil

p.s. I've added PIDapalooza 2020 to the new "Dataverse Meetups" spreadsheet linked from https://dataverse.org/events

Hi Phil,

From us Herbert van de Sompel is joining PIDapalooza this year, he told me a few days ago. I'm pretty sure you have some interesting topics to discuss with Herbert!

Cheers,

Absolutely, I found Herbert and the first thing I said to him was, "Do you know Slava?"

He said, "Of course, I know Slava."

Herbert is great and we had a nice chat. He seems to really like the BagIt export and thinks it's worth mentioning in the lightning talk I'm giving in about an hour. They had me upload my slides already so here they are if anyone is interested: https://twitter.com/philipdurbin/status/1222634865268547584

George Duimovich from Carleton University is also here. Lots of friendly faces!

Phil

p.s. I've been blogging about the event but I'll clean up my posts before I link to them. :)
