Shibboleth SP on separate machine?

According to Dataverse Shibboleth guide at http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/installation/shibboleth.html, 

it explain all the steps to install new Shibboleth SP on same box as Dataverse running on. We do already have a Shibboleth SP setup which is already part to CAF IDP and I want to use existing SP for our Dataverse instances at Scholars Portal. 

How can I point dataverse to use existing Shibboleth SP on separate machine in this configuration http://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/installation/shibboleth.html#id34?

Hmm, if it's possible, I have no idea how to configure it. Could you please ask at http://shibboleth.net/mailman/listinfo/users and point me to the thread? I'm subscribed to that list and could try to help clarify anything you write.
