Hi! Installing Dataverse on Windows might work but it isn't recommended. The best supported option at the moment is CentOS or RHEL 7. There are reports in the wild of running Dataverse on Ubuntu or Debian as well. There is growing interest in running Dataverse in containers.

A couple years ago I tried to get a Dataverse development environment working on Windows but failed. At the time I was trying to use Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) version 1. I hear that version 2 is out. But I don't know if WSL works on servers or not.

I hope this helps!

Phil
