A little bird told me[1] that integration between RSpace (an electronic lab notebook) and Dataverse has reached "advanced prototype stage" so I just tried it out and it works! Here's what I did.

Create an account at https://community.researchspace.com and find Dataverse under "Apps"

Click "Add Dataverse", fill in your the URL of your Dataverse installation (I used https://demo.dataverse.org ), your Dataverse API Token[2], and your dataverse alias ("pdurbin" for me to correspond to https://demo.dataverse.org/dataverse/pdurbin ). Then you can click "Test".

Then, you go to "Workspace" and click "Export".

Then click "Deposit" and fill in the form asking for your name, the title of your dataset, etc.

You should see a success message and your newly minted DOI:

Over in Dataverse, you should see that a dataset has been created and files have been uploaded from RSpace.

In short, it seem to "just work". I'm sure the RSpace team would appreciate any feedback on this new integration. For my part, I'm thrilled that as part of their work they open sourced a new Java client for Dataverse APIs which you can find at https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-client-java (and in the new versions of the Dataverse guides now that https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/3435 has been merged).

Great stuff!

Phil
