Hey guys,

im looking forward to buy a touchscreen for one of my ordered cubies, to build it into the table in my living room. But i don't received my cubies yet, so i have no clue if a usb touchscreen is working correctliy with android. I know there are some connector pins on board for a two point (right?) touchscreen on board, but can you guys suggest a touchscreen which is working perfectly?

i thought about a 7"  Panel with touch.

best regards,
Kai

Why not just buying a existing Allwinner A10 tablet and adapt it to your needs?

I supposed it could be a matter with the expansion headers. Tose pins are gold for hacking little projects. I was thinking about designing some smart cupboards (controling some servos with sensors making the doors open when my hands are full) in my kitchen AND giving some basic media playing in the proces embedding a screen in one of them. I have my first "tablet" for that purpose but I would require more equipent to connect it to ther servos.

It is fairly difficult to add an LCD and touchscreen. It can be done
but it is a lot of work. Both hardware and software. I don't recommend
doing this unless you are experienced writing video drivers.

A much easier solution is to use a pre-existing tablet. You can get
them for $50-60.

Now take a little Auduino type board with USB support. Use it to
control the servos. Plug that board into the tablet's USB port. Tablet
uses USB to talk to Arduino which then controls the servos.

Could you please explain some more why we can't just connect LCD panel to LVDS pins? I think its LCD0 pins. Or maybe old automotive LCDs can be connected to RGB pins? And about touchscreen. As A10 datasheet says it has TP controller. Its' pins are 33-36 near the speakers and mic connectors. Can resistive TP be connected to these pins and something should be configured in bootscript file or I'm just dreaming?

Go ahead and try; it can definitely be done. You just need to be
prepared to write code for Android, the Linux kernel and X video
drivers in order to get it working. If your goal is an educational
project to learn about these systems this is a good project.

If you want it working next month, buy a tablet.
