SSIS+ - Deploy 1.7 Zip Task SQL Server 2016 Testing - Backward Comparability

I built an SSIS package using v 1.7 of the CozyRoc Zip Task, and deployed to a 2016 SQL Server, using Visual Studio 2015 with the SSIS Project Deployment Target set toSQL Server 2016.  Everything worked fine.  If I change the Deployment Target Parameter to SQL Server 2014 in the SSIS Project, Visual Studio 2015 no longer recognizes the Zip Task transformation. 

Furthermore if I deploy the package built with the 1.6 version of the control and switch the deployment target to SQL Server 2016, VS 2015 also fails to recognize the control.

Last but not least if I take the same 1.6 / SQL Server 2014 project and deploy it to SQL Server 2016, it also fails because it can't create the control.  

My Questions

How does backward compatability work with this control?  

Will the final version of the control address this issue?
