Hello My name is Heba, I heard about Coworking from a friend of mine
in Lisbon- Portugal who just set up his space called Cowork Lab. The
concept and values are quite interesting. This is very similar to the
values I had experienced in AIESEC ( an international youth
organization), in which I was the President of the branch in Egypt
around 10 years ago! There are no Coworking spaces in Egypt, yet I see
that there would be a need and demand for something like this due to
the large amount of free lancers and entrepreneurs either working from
their homes or from coffee shops. I am interested to create a
community with shared values and to benefit each other... to
collaborate, share and promote sustainability.. I am at the beginning
phase of just collecting information about this. I have a place in
mind that would still need a lot of construction and decoration but I
still need to further research this concept first among people and
create a community...

Hence, I would like to join this group to further understand the
process..

Thank you

Heba Fadeel

Hi Heba, great idea! We talked about this topic (What's about coworking in the arabic region?)
also in the facebook group "Coworking Europe": http://www.facebook.com/#!/home.php?sk=group_113509915379940&ap=1
There you can find also a lot of informations and personal support. Did you read this article about the hub in Cairo:
http://www.deskmag.com/en/coworking-in-cairo-during-protests-177
I think, there you will find like-minded people for sure ...

Let us know, how your plans are growing and if you need support from the international coworking community.

We wish you in egypt all the best!

Hi Heba,

Yes, I think the space you are dreaming of already exists. And it was co-founded like many other Hubs around the world from an AIESEC Alumna: Uli from Germany.

I am an AIESEC Alumni myself (I was on the German Board 2002-03) and have been involved with the Hub Berlin co-creation team.

Great to reconnect to more AIESECers in the movement...

Greetings from Berlin,
Frauke

um, excuse me for being an idiot "American", but if you're in Cairo, wouldn't your attention be elsewhere...like the govt?

I Heba,

I manage a network of business centers in Portugal, called Ideia
Atlantico, we do also have coworking solutions to entrepreneurs
(http://www.ideia-atlantico.pt/Servicos-Solucoes/espaco-nomada-open-
space-empreendedores.html).

It's a coincidence that our architect Ricardo Santos Oliveira, that
design our Braga facilities moved to Cairo some months ago. He knows
very well our concept Ideas.

If you want I can send you his contacts.

He is very entusiastics with our concepts, and I'm shure he'll do a
great job for you.

hello Jerome, scrolling through this conversation I found your comment ... now how about you, did you focus on the government these days? Please don't get me wrong, but especially in times of crisis, there is a kind of 'division of labour', i.e. some people out in the streets, others doing the backoffice work.
Everyone needs to be where they want to be ...

best from Cairo,
Uli
