CHICOPEE, MASS. - Cecile M. (Grenier) Brochu, 93, died on Friday April 27, at Mount Marie Nursing Home in Holyoke. A longtime Holyoke and Chicopee area resident, she was born in Ottawa, Canada on October 7, 1913, a daughter of the late Joseph and Armenie (Couture) Grenier. She attended the former Precious Blood School in Holyoke. Cecile was a published author of "Her Name Was Armenie", a book about the life of her mother, a life member of Cercle des Dames Francaises, and honored founding member of the Mercy Hospital Guild. She was also a member of the Holyoke League of Arts. She was the wife of the late Roland H. Brochu who died in 1993.
 
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth R. Brochu of South Yarmouth, and Robert P. Brochu of Chicopee, and one daughter, Deanne T. Brochu of Shelburne Falls. She also leaves two brothers, Paul Grenier of South Hadley, and R. Robert Grenier of Holyoke, and one sister, Anne Guiheen of Holyoke. She will be sadly missed by eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral procession will form Tuesday May 1 at 7:45 a.m. from the Messier
Funeral Home, 1944 Northampton St., (Route 5) Holyoke, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Ste Rose de Lima Church, Grattan St.,
Chicopee. Burial will be in Ste Rose de Lima Cemetery. Calling hours at the
funeral home are Monday April 30 from 4 - 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be directed to Sisters of St. Joseph, Mount Marie, 34
