the really interresting thing in all of that is this idea of couch
erlang replicator. What is this?

I take from the notes that it is a "vanilla couch" compatible
replicator for pouchdb.

"erlang-couch compatible replicator" refers to code written in a language other than erlang that successfully replicates with erlang couchdb

Where is "couch erlang replicator" mentioned?

oh i see.

we're trying to define replication as something that is implementation agnostic. so we aren't striving to be compatible with the "erlang replicator" that ships with CouchDB so much as we want to be compatible with replication to "erlang CouchDB".

I am very excited that you got together. We have a great community!

Kanso does deserve great applause!

We have a lot of different couchapp tools. This can be good, and bad.
I am guilty of adding one to this mix. I think with kanso we have a
real opportunity to move toward a common tool. I would propose that we
all try and get behind kanso and push it as 'the' couchapp tool.

I also like that erica is in Erlang, so it can be compiled into CouchDB and then anyone with a local host CouchDB is all set to develop...

But Kanso is pretty cool, I agree!

I wouldn't go bundling couchapp tools with couchdb anytime soon, but a nicer way to install couchapps might give the opportunity for something like the erica-web interface to be easily installed. Then non-developers just wanting to put some forms and reports with couchdb data could use that.

I still think we need some more powerful tools and shared resources if developers are going to create more serious apps and really show off what couchdb can do though.
Also, its pretty clear that many people still think the Kanso project is a framework. Its not. I should have renamed it. The naming woes of the couch community continue...

I would :)

I like Node.js for daily work, but I have wanted to bundle Erica into
Build CouchDB for a long time.

I really want to bundle Kanso too but that means renaming the project
to build-couchdb-and-nodejs which seems like a quagmire.
