He solved Spear.
With a knife.
That's it, just a knife.
Well, he was forced to use the hand gun three times - on the Angel
and on two of the bosses, because they don't get close enough to you.
But for everything else...
Nothing but a knife.

Next time he should play on a level higher than "Can I play Daddy" ;-)
I just finished Spear last night. It was briliant. Applause to all the
id programmers and map makers. I would recommend this game to anyone who
likes Wolf3d. I just started playing the SODBLAST maps for Spear and it's
a big disappointment. Don't be fooled by imitations!

Okay, I have to ask. Did he by chance have God-mode turned on?
If not, how in the world did he aviod being killed by the SS with
machine guns? I can't see any way other than God-mode to go
hand-to-hand with those guys.

Actually, SS guys are a snap. After you start stabbing them, they can't
shoot you anymore, they just get stabbed. So, as long as you stay on
target, they die peacefully. I am just a little curious myself as to the
bosses that he would have to face (also, the beginning of the ubermutant
floor, seems a little tough)?
Shawn
Nope. Not a single bit of God-mode or MIL. And did I mention it
was on death incarnate? I didn't? Well, it was.
Seriously folks, it *is* possible.
You just have to take advantage of a slight bug (feature? :) of the
program.
Just make sure you're in a passage that's one block wide and has a
corner in it. Go to just barely beyond the corner. Gaurds will run
after you, but since you are slightly blocking their path, they will not
be able to turn the corner. Now, here is where to bug comes into play.
If you positioned yourself just right, they will continue trying to run
at you - but they're blocked, of course. However, you can still stab
them. So just hit ctrl a lot and - presto! You end up with a pile of
fresh meat at your feet! Fun, eh?
This also works for the first Boss and the Ubermutant, since they
like to get as close to you as the possibly can.

Well, I would have to say that I wouldn't call this a win. Much more of
a cheat than anything. I have seen this bug, but doing it all the time
would not constitute much skill in the games itself. It is something to have
enough patience to do this with everybody though.

I second that! Spear of Destiny has the best maps of all wolf3d maps out there,
IMO.

yea, I think you should demand your money back from those cheap imitators.
Oh, yea, they were free. weren't they? but, hey you have to have something to
bitch about, right?
You know, people went to some trouble to provide you with free floors to play
since you had already paid for the engine. Can't you just thank them for their
work and enjoy the free floors as well. And if you don't enjoy them can't you
just not use them. The "imitators" weren't trying to fool you, they were trying
to enrich your enoyment and you come across as a trifle ungrateful.
I happen to have just finished the CCS version and quite enjoyed it. I say
thanks to the map-makers for they shall inherit my time when the first version
has been played out.

I have to agree. The CCS 59 (or was it 58) new levels were one of the better
ones created. Not too hard (no 99 bosses per level madness) and the
maze itself was interestingly shaped etc.
To all who bitch about inadequacy of add-ons (which is their opinion not
mine) I say don't use them if you don't like them.
There!

Err, not really.

I have played most of the maps for Wolf 3d and I must
say that the Enigma nitemare missions were my favorite add ons. In my
original post I didn't want to sound like I was ungrateful to all
those people who create new maps but I wanted to emphasize that Spear
of Destiny had the *best* layouts out of all the Wolf 3d games (IMHO).
After finishing Spear, the SODBLAST maps seemed so anti-climactic in
comparison. If I would have played them before Spear then I would probably
enjoyed them a lot more.
