Another day another IIGS question:

Which games still don't work on ROM03 machines? These are the ones I've heard of:

Captain Blood
Magic Johnson Basketball
Skate Or Die
Star Wizard (what is this? I can't find any record of this game)

If this list is accurate, then it may finally be time to let go of my ROM 01 system. Captain Blood is the only one on this list I care about now that Shufflepuck has been fixed. MJ Basketball would be a nice to have, but there are already two other basketball games on the IIgs. Never cared for Skate or Die on any system (shame it's not a port of 720 degrees instead) and I can't figure out what the heck Star Wizard is (an unfinished game of some sort?).

Pirates does not work on the ROM 3 IIgs; I would be a very happy person if
someone could fix that the way Shufflepuck Cafe was fixed.

Really? What doesn't work? Does it crash or does something else not work right?

Pirates doesn't work at all on a ROM 3 IIgs see
http://www.whatisthe2gs.apple2.org.za/pirates- . The game is from 1988 and
runs straight from ProDOS 8 so something in the ROM 3 doesn't agree with it.

Doesn't seem to load for me. Is it a shareware game or something?

Pirates does not work on ROM 3 machines.... what does not work? Does it boot? Is this a mouse pb?

Captain blood is written by the same guys who wrote Shufflepuck, there's probably the same problem.

Thank you,
Antoine

That would make sense. Easy to patch too I'd image.

This is a game from the FTA. I suppose it could be only a demo as I
never played it much. You flew a spaceship in 3D rooms but don't
remember much more than that.

Is ProDOS 8 and ROM03 somehow incompatible? Just trying to understand
what's meant here...

No, it's the game "Pirates" that is incompatible.

Yep I just tried it. It appears to load (you get the title screen and music) but when you click the mouse to continue you get a "Syntax Error in 0" error.
