Mark B blocks some addresses (including some .au). If you have a VPN
send the sharp end to .eu or .us and try again. Works for me.

I block addresses delegated to APNIC, which dramatically reduced the
number of break-in attempts on my systems. Unfortunately, APNIC
includes Australia. I have found several subnets used in Australia and
opened them up but haven't found them all.

If you timeout trying to reach my server, send me the public subnet you
are using and I will add it to the exception list.
