Screen shots of "Abuse", Crack dot Com's first action game, are
now available on ftp.cdrom.com:/pub/games/incoming/abusepc2.zip.
Included here is the READ.ME file.

Abuse is the first shareware release from Crack dot Com:

Dave Taylor (Partner/Producer),
Jonathan Clark (Partner/Project Leader),
Duong Nguyen (Artist/Level Designer), and
Murray McMillan (Artist).

Abuse will be mastered August 31 and the Linux shareware version will be
released at that time. The DOS version will follow shortly thereafter
and will be sold through mail order then stores.

Screen Shots :

sshot1.pcx 800x600 - an example of what the game looks like in hi-rez
(very nice!) will probably require a pentium to
play hi-rez at a decent frame-rate.
sshot2.pcx 320x200 - an action scene, not so pretty.. (don't use :)).
sshot3.pcx 640x480 - development tools and 18 zillion windows.
This level editor comes free with the game..
players can make their own levels.
sshot4.pcx 320x200 - a scene with lighting and aliens.
sshot5.pcx 640x480 - what sshot4.pcx will look like on a console machine
sshot6.pcx 320x200 - a akiniod-like game that runs using the same engine,
this 270 line program was written in a day.
(try running the game : abuse -lsf pong/pong.lsp)
look at pong.lsp to see how simple this is.
sshot7.pcx 320x200 - nice action shot with decent lighting
sshot8.pcx 320x200 - just added this, color calibration makes sure you
see perfect graphics even on bad monitors.
sshot9.pcx 640x480 - screen shot from the free paint program we are releasing
which can be used to edit game artwork.
sshot10.pcx 320x200 - shot showing gun rotations

The Technology of "Abuse":

o Beautifully shaped, point-source lighting
o Built-in LISP interpreter. You can modify world physics and rules or
create a whole new game which can be plugged in to any port to any
platform.
o Engine features include real-time morphing, sound, mouse/joystick,
network, multiple-resolution and window support!
o Crack dot Com provides a ready-made program to allow amateur or
professional game programmers to collect royalties off their product
using the engine.
o Exciting client-server multi-player support using either IPX (Novell)
or TCP/IP (Beame & Whiteside). Players can join in and leave,
automatically downloading any data which they are missing from custom
levels or newer versions.
o Character animation rendered with "VCAD", an advanced in-house vector
animation tool.
o Artwork is editable by users with the free paint program "Satan Paint",
included on the CDROM distribution and already available at the ftp
site npc.ece.utexas.edu:/pub/satan_paint.
o Color matching system ensures you see what you are supposed to.
Corrects for bad/miscalibrated monitors.
o Hi-resolution support with VESA drivers.
o Initial ports for DOS, Linux SVGALIB, and Linux X. Many more ports to
be announced.
