I have a Samsung Galaxy S3.

I am looking for a clock or timer app that counts past 0.

Currently I use the "Clock" app and set a Timer. When
the remaining time gets to zero the alarm goes off, but
I want to have the counter to continue to count down
(to negative times) so that I can know how much time
elapsed between when the timer expired and when I was able
to take the action that I needed to take at about the
time the timer went to 0.

I need to know because often the next step depends on
how much time as actually past since the initial time
expired. For example:
1. less than 1 minute late:
stir and heat my string beans 4 more minutes
2. 1-10 minutes: stir and heat for 4 to 6 more minutes,
depending on the delay,
3. more than 10 minutes: throw out the string beans since
they will either not be hot or will be overcooked.

No, I can't set a stopwatch at the same time I set the
countdown timer: there are more steps and other things going
on, so things would be sure to get confused. With just a
timer that shows how long as past since the initial trigger
point I can easily do the dish specific calculation in my
head, and, if I don't get to set a new timer I still will
have made a mental note that the string beans are ready when
the timer gets to -4 minutes if there was no dally and -16 minutes
if there was a 10 minute delay.

Look at Fullscreen Countdown Timer by Nicolaj L\/obner Sheller,
IIRC it turns the digits red and counts upwards once the preset reaches
zero. I've used it to good effect to control speakers at scientific
conferences.

Thanks.

The counter works the way that I want.

I can run another task at the same time using the multiwindow
feature and the countdown continues. However, when I hit home
(the lighted thing on the bottom right that looks like a bent
arrow) the Fullscreen Countdown Timer by Sheller exits and starting
the application again brings up a not yet running countdown timer
with the initial time setting (i.e., the timer not only was stopped,
but any progress towards the countdown is lost.)

Also it doesn't have a way to do multiple timers at the same time.
