Email the website owner first? Maybe it's moving to cloud? :)

I welcome any corrections. There had been no rumor of *possible* changes here, and I just wanted to make a notification that a former resource may have been lost.

Appears for now that we have at least one backup. (Thanks, axtens!)

The domain the-oasis.net belongs to Phil Barnett. So does
harbour-project.org. The latter has been offline for a couple of months
now. But both have been auto-renewed at Godaddy this year. I suspect
that his server is offline. I hope it has nothing to do with an obituary
over one Philip Barnett in "our" Phil's home town Apopka, FL, that is
listed here:

Hi Klas,

I have no idea how many Phil Barnetts there are in Apopka, FL,
especially those of our vintage, but that news is not the sort of news
we like to read :-(

We can but hope for the best.

Please do not apologize. Now we know they have at least one (former) Clipper-head in Heaven!

You did a better search job than I did. The info regarding Disney World,
as well as the matching pictures, definitely confirms what we were
afraid of.

Phil was one out of a small group of people in various corners of the
world who did so much for the Clipper community. Thank you, Phil, for
your time and dedication over so many years.

and Phil warned us all of possible pending Y2k problems (or disasters) back in 1998, and I (saucily) replied that I could shut down my applications and make changes/repairs to them on the Y2K weekend with no problem. He took me to task for that arrogant answer :))

Dear Mel Smith:
There are some older Linux systems that will have a similar problem long about 2032. So this (packing information into "big enough" packets) will always be around to haunt us.

Hello everyone.

I have been "elsewhere" for too long and only last night learned of Phil's passing. Sent my condolences to Phil's wife and received this reply today.

"Phil suffered an infection on his mitral valve resulting in 9 strokes. Subsequently, he came down with pneumonia. He fought hard but his organs were shutting down. He died after 9 weeks in hospital.
Thank you for your condolences."

I also learned that fellow Australian Clipperhead Steve Quinn has passed.

What a terrible set of news to obtain in the same hour.

Hi Ross,

Long time.  Hope all well down under, no more books to distribute?

Yes it is sad to hear of these gurus passing on.

Take care,

Johan

Hi Johan.

Yes a very long time. No more books. Had a falling out with my brother in Namibia. Never heard from since. Never lend/invest money that you hope to get back.

I hope you are prospering. I have returned to my original occupation of electronics design and programming microcontrollers. I should retire but enjoy it too much to hang up the soldering iron.

Stay well.

Ross
