Some time ago, based on everything Jan Sloot
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.compression/tree/browse_frm/thread/496e87c4f7f53e15
said about his invention, I came to the conclusion that he coded with
colors as I mentioned in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.compression/tree/browse_frm/thread/cd0930a6cbcda850

Recent somebody found info with some hints about colors used for
coding at the Davoc website, a company that tried to sell Jan Sloot
video compression before Roel Pieper http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roel_Pieper
joined the club:

I have read that good story in the past, but it do not explain why
even till today nobody from the people who saw the many demos even
think it was fraud, including the investors from the first hour. It
also do not explain why some people think Jan Sloot is helped to die
(heart attack) some days to early and why almost everything he ever
produced was disapeared till today.

This questions you can find in part 2 of the Dutch TV Netwerk
broadcast about Jan Sloot:

His 1KB key can maximum contain 1,797693134862315907729305190789e+308
unique movies according the binary system, so how big is the chance
you get a interesting movie when you store a random 1KB at his keycard
and play it back in his demo device?

The only one who proven cheat in the Jan Sloot story is Roel Pieper.
He first cheat against Philips by joining the Jan Sloot club and
arranged a special setup not interesting second demo for Philips while
still working for Philips and second cheat against Jan Sloot by taking
his demo device alone at a trip in the US and came back with the
device that was secret opened and closed what was both against the
appointments with Jan Sloot.

I also don't have all the answers, but I give it a try:

Vain and pride?

Maybe he was helped, but in that case by people like Roel Pieper who
finally realized he was tricked into a fraudulent compression scam.
Roel was mentioned as the new CEO of Philips many time, he had
everything to lose when things would come out he naively beleived the
Jan Sloot Scam.

> and why almost everything he ever produced was disapeared till today.

Simply because there was nothing to show except his magic 'demo
apparatus' which contained at least one harddisk as you already know
by watching al the mentioned videos...

To give you an idea. One single frame (1 frame!!!), of a movie can
already be in more the 1e308 different states. Say your screen is
1024x768 and you can have 16M colors per pixel. The number of
different frames is (16x10e6)^(1024x768). This is already much much
much much much much much much much much greater then

Because they were uneducated.

No idea about the heart attack, but maybe everything he produced is
gone is because he never had anything functional to begin with?

You have put a lot of effort into following and researching "infinite"
compression claims. Might I suggest you redirect your efforts into
compression fields that are proven, interesting, and have more work to
do? For example, I think you would find wavelets (and wavelet video
codecs) very fun, as they exhibit some of the properties you are
looking for (wavelets are "layered" for lack of a better term, so less
information can still produce a viewable image; they are also a simple
math transform, so you should be able to understand how they work and
the various types there are).

Or how about diving into PAQ? Most PAQ development seems to be
centered around beating the various corpii (Calgary Corpus, etc.) test
suites into submission, but the PAQ family can be expanded by more
models to make it more useful as a general-purpose compressor.

There are so many more useful and productive things you could be
spending your free time on :-(

"Quote January / February 2001"

Amstelplein, Thursday, March 4, 1999.

It is three o'clock in the afternoon. A onalledaags company goes to
the top lonely Amsterdam uittorenende betonkolos. A keukenboer, a
construction worker, a timid elekrrotechnicus with his son, a
successful investor Nijmegen and a former director of World Online.
Upon entering the entrance of the Rembrandt coren exchange them
excited cans. In a vergaderkamer on the eleventh floor waiting
patiently Messrs. even later on the arrival of the man who a year
earlier as crown prince in electronics Philips was hauled: Roel
Pieper. The 54-year-old elektrocechnicus Jan Sloot closes with bevende
hands a 24-inch monitor for a black box that is no greater than five
packets of cigarettes. Sloot examines zwijgzaam about his equipment,
which he will demonstrate in a few minutes - the day before he has to
late at night for a few films on his special VCR. He Sets satisfied
that everything works and goes to the long table next to his son Ben.
At the end of the table, at the entrance of the room, sits cue-
kenhandelaar Leo Mierop. Opposite him is the ever grijnzende Marcel
Book-horn, successful specialist in mergers and acquisitions. The area
between them is available for Pieper. Caught in oil saves the
godfather of the Dutch high-tech, Frits Philips, from one of the walls
observe the scene. Then the door of the room opened and enters the
long figure of Roel Pieper within, followed by Philips Research
Scientist Carel Jan van Driel. If the usual beleefdheden proven and
the business cards of his owner changed, Jan Sloot to meet its
demonstration to begin. The elektrocechnicus move the monitor and a
white cross smartcard with a 64 kilobyte chip in the device connected
thereto. On the 64 kB chip of the smart card is a code that sixteen
full movies on the screen of the monitor can display. All eyes are
focused on Pieper and Van Driel. Leo Mierop can imagine the situation
still bright for the soul. 'Pieper looked at lift-box and the monitor.
His mouth literally fell open. He asked aloud whether that really full
sixteen films were played since he saw. Sloot to stop crowds and said:
"Say what you want to see." Jan spoelde then one by one the film
forward and backward. Pieper was completely shot. You saw it to his
head. "That's it", he could still release. "Marcel Boekhoorn:" They
have their ears seated on the device to make sure there are no hard
drive in Saturday. Pieper and Van Driel fell to surprise. But after
Ga. Jan Sloot showed that he sixteen movies on a chip could turn
everyday. He alleged that there are also 64 films fit. That represents
a verkleiningsfacror of two million! You could with those Sloot
invention of all films ever in the world have been able to put on a
CD. Or on a CD almost all CDs ever made. The consequences of such an
invention-any idiot can quantify. UPC say day with your hand, discard
umcs on mesrvaal, wipe the whole high-tech world under the carpet. You
do not have to be intelligent to understand that with such a landslide
something special in your claws have. "Of the restraint that initially
had shown Pieper was suddenly no trace to confess. 'Pieper had
originally twenty minutes for our interview, recalls Mierop. "He had
an appointment with someone from the British embassy. Well, that was
at ease going to look another time. Engineer Van Driel, who ongelovig
had idly if, Pieper. After he brought us had signed confidentiality,
we are certainly still an hour. "Slightly nervous atmosphere in the
vergaderkamer had given way to excitement and curiosity. Mierop:
"Pieper said Sloot one question after another. He could only do not
have. At the end of the call Pieper said that within a few weeks he
would contact the webmaster for the next appointment. A few weeks? I
sat in the car with Boekhoorn reason, and we just get out of New York
City or the mobile phone of Marcel went ... Pieper. "

Keukenstudio

High technology was cue-kenhandelaar Leo Mierop and contractor Leen
Mooijaarr certainly do not take the most normal thing in the world.
Mieroo bestiert a good keukenstudio Rockanje Mooijaart and lead a
successful life between the bricks and cement her. Not the most
obvious people to groce financial risk-taking with revolutionary
technologies. That such scenarios never be ruled out in advance,
proved last year the former groenteboer and supermarkrhouder Jacob
Pieter-man. The Groninger understand first that with free Internet
money could be earned and snapte dac his wallet was especially benefit
from a quick sale of the company. In just one year, he knew a little
hundred million guilders to his bank to add. "When Mooijaarr and I for
the first time to the invention of Sloot looked, snapten we have
really no flute ', defines Mierop his bevattingsvermogen. "Sixteen
films playing with a small box and a chip. We thought that it normally
would be. "Mierop is not out to impress. Not in words and not in
appearance. But he makes it impressed. The white shirt he wears is far
open-knotted and offers a broad view of his extensive and lush
behaarde chest. That he wears a black vest that the braces partially
covered. On his broad jaw, a beard of several days between his lips
and sticks to a fresh quarter rolled heavy Van Nelle. Straight seated
in his black bureausroel tells Mierop that she thanks to a friendly
lawyer Mooijaart in the summer of 1998 with Jan Sloot came into
contact, one shy elekcrotechnicus who twenty years earlier his job at
Philips and had denounced in Groningen, where he was born, an audio
and video store was started. In his spare hours worked Sloot in a
system with which he imagery efficient could save. Within a few years
Sloot was now with his family moved to Nieuwegein - he became quite
bevangen by the work on his system. There were days passed without his
small werkzolder of his newly in the Scravinskvstraat left. A total of
twenty years working Sloot its coding system, which reads as a
thermonucle - aire bomb in the digital world could take the Sloot
Digital Coding System. Sloot had returned to the origins of the
development of digital technology and had to find another way to store
electronic information. The binary system was outdated Sloot. He had
devised a coding system which digitally stored images and sound
without loss of quality almost a couple million times could be
reduced. Financial genius The conception of Sloots invention was not
entirely without bleeding. The monomane Sloot had its elektroreparatie
company substantially let versloffen and a debt of hundreds of
thousands of dollars built. "We have invested significant sums when to
Sloot including one of his creditors to extricate" says Mierop.
"Another part of her money was used for him to the uirwerking of its
coding system to work and for large companies to enjoy. We really had
no idea where we started. More than a few presentations, we have not
attended. "Instinctief felt Mierop and Mooijaart that Sloot and his
invention a lot in winning the lottery. The two had just not the
slightest idea where they uitbetalingloket could find. "What we know
now of technique," says Mierop. 'Nothing. "Limit their financial
resources came quickly in sight. There was more money and knowledge
necessary for the invention of Jan Sloot to launch. A friend of
Mooijaart, Carl de Vries, the duo wanted to do. De Vries was thanks to
its flourishing advocatenpraktijk boasts a comprehensive network and
so Mierop and Mooijaart in contact with experienced people. He thought
first of his old knowledge Bart van Rheenen, who at that time director
of network automation Dupaco had become. Van Rheenen was initially
skeptical, but after a demonstration of Sloot in the presence of some
encryption experts from Oracle decided he end 1998 Mierop and
Mooijaart to help. "I saw that Oracle-jon - gens are completely
silent, Van Rheenen know yet. "They took Sloocs invention very
seriously. That was the reason for me to finally also to invest. "Van
Rheenen believed that the invention of Sloot only to a company could
be housed. "The technology company that the decision would have on
this Dutch technology would be assured of a year long world markets. I
immediately thought to Philips. "That would be his friend Rene Bickel,
one of the former directors of World Online, sometimes it can help.
Bickel doubts no time and pledged to his client KPN almost immediately
his interim contraci. The team was already on strength. But there is
still one important element was missing: financial strength. Carl de
Vries said voor'om his old client Marcel Book-horn pair. Boekhoorn had
not long before then finally his name in the financial world
established by the successful sale of bakery Bakker Ban. 'Boekhoorn
came when called, "says Mierop. "Having a financial genius with a good
nose. He invested directly. "

Lock stock and barrel

With the advent of Boekhoorn in January 1999 begins the project really
take shape. An example of Boekhoorn blank with the name Dipro is used
and Boekhoorn begins immediately with writing a informariememorandum.
The plan is the invention of Jan Sloot in its entirety to an
electronics or softwaregigant sell. "Mergers and acquisitions, this is
my profession," says Boekhoorn. 'Boekies write tent offering and
selling commission and a catch. So if I lock stock and barrel in a
short deal could sell, I would certainly not have failed. "An
Boekhoorn memo shows that at that time the price of one billion
dollars in his head for the sale of the Rights of the coding of Sloot.
There is a shorclist prepared to approach companies - KPN, Oracle,
Microsoft, Worldcom, Intel, Sony. But Philips is high on the wish
list. Rene Bickel has contact administrative level. "I knew Roei
groups from his time at Tandem," says Bickel. 'The deal was made
quickly. "Meeting at Philips would quickly change the verkoopstracegie
of Dipro.

Paranoide

The first encounter in the Rembrandttoren By Carel engineer Jan van
Driel the necessary questions. The letter of March 11, 1999 of Van
Driel to Rene Bickel, the "wait and see" attitude of the scientist.
"We understand that a kilobyte on the smart card is sufficient for the
storage of the key code of a DVD title ... Because a DVD title
nineteen giga-bit, we are concerned about the amount of ROM memory.
"Van Driel suspect that there is a place in the system of Sloot is
where the rest of the encrypted information from being achieved. And
that, according to his knowledge of digital data storage of a huge
scale. The afspeelkastje the size of five packets of cigarettes does,
however, suspect otherwise. Also Boekhoorn and Pieper have any contact
times. The idea for the invention of Jan Sloot sell suddenly, dies.
'Why not start a business with the coderingstechnologie? "Mijmert
Boekhoorn after. "It would be nice if you later in the history books
have stated that you have been at the root of the invention of the
century." The possibilities are Boekhoorn hardly contain and the value
of that company should unprecedented forms may adopt . The matching
CEO has already more or less.

The second agreement with Philips will take place on neutral ground.
Sloot is fearful that at Philips Research in Eindhoven technology is
available which are unsolicited invention can be further inspected.
'Pieper agreed this time', recalls Mierop. 'And Sloot realized only
too well that he had something like what others wanted him. "The
attitude of Sloot will still Boekhoorn often. Irritate 'me Sloot was
from the outset a very paranoid impression, which is often more
difficult to work with him', he says. "We have the second
demonstration but when held in the Picus sigarenkistenfabrieken in
Eindhoven, where I am co-owner."

Wednesday, March 17 to nine hours morning are again Jan and Ben Sloot,
Mierop, Mooijaarr, Bickel and Boekhoorn waiting for the arrival of
Philips' second husband. This time engineer Van Driel is not here and
Pieper accompanied by three other scientists. Sloot demonstrates his
system to her trio, which according Mierop especially eye on the
screen. "These engineers suggested questions which Pieper regularly
afkeurend with his head was shaking. They could not contain what has
happened to their eyes. "She let the inexplicable not long in effect.
"I think the demo is no longer than twenty minutes to complete," says
Ben Sloot. "When Pieper departed again with the engineers." The
enthusiasm of thirteen days earlier apparently turned into
disappointment. But the reality is different. Mierop: "Pieper had
Boekhoorn in advance ingeseind that he would come back immediately
after he techneuten had returned to the Natlab." Thus place. Barely
half an hour later, the gedoodverfde troonopvolger of Boonstra back on
the pavement of Picus. 'When he was back, we have shaken hands equal,
"says Mierop. "I come to work for you," he said and he was not
pronounced or his demanding proposed options were already on the
table. "

After considerable negotiation knows Boekhoorn Piepers requirements to
bind to a CEO-con-tract in which it holds an interest of up
twaalfenhalf percent in the company. Tweeenhalve month before his
unexpected departure at Philips, l June 1999, Pieper enters
unofficially serving as CEO at Dipro. 'Boekhoorn was so happy that day
that we all have a sigarenkist of thousands of dollars have been,
"says Ben Sloot. Boekhoorn, now at Insight Capital Partners also has
to do with Pieper, confirmed after some urging the events of that
morning. "Yes, I can do nothing, but if it is marching." Memory of
Pieper is less sharp. "I am only after my departure at Philips for the
first time to do so." That does not mean that he is the invention of
Sloot in March 1999 rejected. "Philips has rejected the invention,
said Carel Jan van Driel of Philips Research. 'And Roel Pieper has
taken this decision. "

The Fifth Force Inc..

'Finally, I can add that we have staned on an amazing journey, one
that not many will be abie to experience. It will cake us to the core
center of all high cechnology chess games. "That line comes from the
introduction of a confidential report made by Roel Pieper. From the
moment he fits Dipro, Pieper there is no doubt about where he wants to
go with the invention. The name Dipro does not fit those global
ambitions and is rapidly transformed into the mysterious The Fifth
Force Inc., a name that is derived from the much disputed and
scientifically unproven theory of fifth force in nature. The expected
valuation for the company is changing with the advent of Pieper
inside, as evidenced by a memo from Marcel Boekhoorn of March 26,
1999. 'At the end of 2004, the value of the company 24 billion
dollars. "It would be a first tentative estimate prove to be. "My
father, Rene Bickel, Roei and I had at the office of my father in
Nieuwegein a noon gebrainstormd about what is possible with the
invention," says Ben Sloot. "Pieper was the invention of the century.
My father gloeide of pride. At any given moment Pieper drew a diagram
on the board that the development of the valuation of the company had.
At the end of the line, he wrote the amount hundred billion dollars.
Boekhoorn: "This was certainly one of the biggest deals ever done in
the Netherlands would be. Hundreds of billions of dollars. "Spud"
Boekhoorn exaggerating. It was his first impressions of the highcech-
world. So it was really special again. I am currently with five or six
of these kinds of deals work. "

Gardisten

Pieper has unexpectedly received something in the hands what gives him
a place at the highest chessboard in the high-tech industry. The
coding of Dar Sloot decades anticipates the current technological
developments, preventing him from a series of rapid openingszetten.
His aim is The Fifth Force Inc. at the same time in Europe, America
and Asia to build and within two years at the fair too, a job for
which he is an experienced and responsive team needs. He makes an
immediate appeal to some of his former gardists at Tandem, the company
that Pieper mid nineties successful reorganiseerde and in 1997
advantageous knew how to sell to Compaq. Marius Abel, the former chief
technology officer of Tandem, she quickly prepared his old leader to
help. So does the American John Losier, who earlier along with Pieper
of Tandem and Compaq to ten slofte to Philips moved. The Director of
Philips North America, resigned in July to be director of the North
American branch of The Fifth Force Inc.. The huisbaas of Pieper in
Bloemendaal, the company binnenge-runs. Jan de Jong, co-founder of
Nedam, despite gets by virtually everyone at Fifth Force doubts
capabilities, a high managementpositie assigned. Hans Wijers, with
whom Roei good friends, even before the official departure of Pieper
at Philips a role in the boys'. Wijers, who a year and a half earlier
was still the champion of Piepers coming to Philips, save the supply
of the Fifth Force-CEO, however politely.

High speed

Beginning in May 1999 steps Rene Bickel, Marcel Boekhoorn, Jan and Ben
Sloot and Roel Pieper in a plane bound for New York. Jan Sloot is
excited. It is the first intercontinental flight for him and his son,
who will accompany him as a bodyguard. Sloot realizes that time that
the plane in which he is but a fraction of the value of the equipment
that his son achteloos with boxes duty-free cigarettes meezeult. As he
is no representation of what he can do in New York ahead. The
onbereisde Sloot will be in the fifty hours at the start of the
Boeing, in a memorable introduction to the high speed international
lifestyle of its boardroom director treats. "Upon arrival at the
airport in New York there was a huge black limousine ready for us
which we directly to a luxury hotel 'transported', says Ben Sloot.
'The following morning we were again picked up by a limousine and into
a gereedstaande helicopter. I thought even in a film brings to his.
"From a helicopter-plarform at the southern tip of Manhattan fly the
five to the head office of Computer Associates in Islandia, dar not
far outside New York. "The helicopter landed in the garden and not
much later, we sat with a major Director Charles Wang and his wife at
the table," says Book-horn. "Some of Wang technicians were present.
Wang went completely flat for Sloots device and wanted to invest his
money. "

Sand Hill Road

The first trip to the United States shows exactly where the success
Pieper has hoped and he suggests that same week to fly back and the
invention in Silicon Valley for some of the major venture capitaliscs
demonstrations. The agreements he has already made. The Fifth Force-
Delegation can tie by hitting the mediation of Pieper across the
Valley count on an extended ontvangstcomite. There is only one small
problem: Jan Sloot refuses to go. The excitement and the time he has
hardly slept. He has been a few years hartpatient and he can
physically not to return so soon to fly to America. No Sloot also
means no invention. 'Jan Sloot under no circumstances are familiar to
anyone equipment far, "says Leo Mierop. "The second trip was almost on
the rocks. After much talk, I Sloot can move his invention to be
passed Marcel. Boekhoorn had heath device Sloot bezworen that his side
would not depart. "A week later than planned steps Boekhoorn Pieper
and without business, but with the invention of the airplane to San
Francisco. In the Valley knows Pieper Boekhoorn the requisite
deference to boezemen. "He is really everywhere inside. The aircraft e-
mail him with the top of Sony. The next day, he has them on the phone
to make an appointment. He even call directly with Bill Gates. "The
next morning is the destination Sand Hill Road in Menio Park, the
capitalist epicenter of Silicon Valley. At number 2750 housed the most
successful and most powerful venture capitalfonds world, Kleiner
Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB). Through investments in Yahoo,
Netscape and Healtheon even the general public from the air ever in
the background operating durfkapitalisten. Ever Tandem Computers was
one of the first successful investments by KPCB. The venture
capitalist was still a significant stake in tandem when the company in
1997 thanks to the efforts of Roel Pieper for three billion dollars
was sold to Compaq. Because of this performance and on the basis of
long-term friendship with founder Torn Perkins can Roel Pieper at KPCB
always count on a warm reception. If Boekhoorn and Marius Abel along
with Pieper morning catch the building, they are among others was
engaged by John Doerr, the wonderboy of Kleiner Perkins ever the
success of the Valley expressed as "the largest legal creation of
wealth in the history of the planet ', and are derived from India
equivalent Vinod Khosla. "That was unique, believes Boekhoorn. 'A
presentation for the main Kleiner Perkins members. They warep loves
the invention of Sloot and wanted to invest, and they are still the
boys of the miljardendeals. "After the demo at Kleiner Perkins runs
the trio to the other side of Sand Hill Road at the renowned Mayfield
Fund the miraculous device of Sloot showing. A few hours later, the
Mayfield Fund up once willingly investor. The short demoronde in the
Valley is a great success and Boekhoorn is preparing for the return to
the Netherlands, where he has other appointments. At the last minute,
however, still Pieper announces a series of meetings to have inserted.
Boekhoorn should go, but the invention should absolutely be
maintained. Boekhoorn gives, at the express wish of Sloot, the
invention to Abel and Spud, and vliegi back to the Netherlands. 'Sloot
was wild when Boekhoorn without his invention in the Netherlands
arrived, "says Mierop. "He was already wary, but from that moment he
trusted nobody. Pieper certainly not. "Ben Sloot:" The only person
where my father kept in confidence, was Leo Mierop. He also got the
power of attorney on the shares of pa. "And so arises the remarkable
situation that a keukenboer from Rockanje the only voting
mingsgevolmachrigde for 72 percent of The Fifth Force Inc, a potential
miljardenbedrijf that is led by Dutch slagvaardigste man in high-
tech , Roel Pieper. Distrust of Sloot is not out of the thin air.
Before his invention had passed, he had the box with machi - nelak
sealed. When the device he got back into hands, he saw that there were
attempts made to open the locker. "He could also see that there had
been connected to computer equipment," says Ben Sloot. Sloot turns
himself in and is a period for anyone approachable. It is Mierop that
the inventor finally ready to find the thread back to tackle.

Carte blanche

Within the foreseeable future turns back on the road full stirring and
follow presentations by, among other ABN Amro, the Utrecht
durfinvesteerder Guild and the investment fund Optimix. 'In the demo
at Optimix Saturday a hall full of the richest people in the
Netherlands, "says Book-horn. 'You do not know what it took. "An
Fentener van Vlissin gene that evening spectator. He was also John de
Mol see with my own eyes how the products are mediafabriek possible to
tiny units will be reduced. "Roel is even several times to Rupert
Murdoch in London had" knows Boekhoorn. 'And of all those people,
there was no one who is not wanted to do. "ABN Amro shows first
prepared the required seed capital in them. It is Boekhoorn this time
an introduction to government possible. Boekhoorn: "I knew Wilco
Jiskoot still in my previous deals May Ban Bakker and he had my doors
and kozijnenfabriek funded. Wilco immediately took us seriously. I
have him to Roel. That was the first time these two met. At ABN has a
team of about fifteen specialists to Sloocs invention looked. They
were initially a convertible loan of fifty million, which is still
half funding would take place. That Was the whole world already ready.
"For those fifty million ABN Amro will eventually an interest of four
percent gain in The Fifth Force. "The rate at which that loan was
converted into shares. Was not fixed, "says Boekhoorn. 'Actually, we
had a sort of carte blanche for only four percent of the shares. To
meet the 1T free hand to get ... I can tell you, I think we were the
only ones in Netherlands. They would also participate in the next
round as Kleiner Perkins, Ma / field and the rest would invest.
"Richest man on earth Friday July 9 can be found in Bloemendaal in the
house of Roel Pieper a last meeting with ABN Amro. Jan and Ben Sloot
will be a delegation of the bank, including director, Bob Kramer
shareholdings, another presentation, after which the Monday pointed to
the notary get down to be beaten. ABN. Amro will then twenty million
guilders bijschrijven on behalf of Sloot. 'It was a wonderful evening.
Everyone was happy that finally officially signed could be, "says Ben
Sloot. 'Then came Roel's surprising announcement that Perkins Torn
from London had agreed to a cup of coffee to drink. Not much later he
was invited by a limousine voorgereden. My father had to repeat the
demonstration Perkins that he had never before seen. Pa was the nerves
of his device, which Perkins up, a hand on his shoulder and said
explained: "Mister Sloot, vou have" done-an unbelievable job. You are
going to be the richest man on earth. "Moments later he literally fell
from his chair surprise." Father and son Sloot driving that night in a
opperbeste vote back to Nieuwegein. Well, now arrived. Any concerns
and suspicion can aside be discarded. Over a few days, the electrician
Sloot multimillionaire. "Saturday we go shopping all day ', vereelt
his wife Annie Sloot." For the first time in his life Jan bought a
shirt of more than one hundred guilders. " Zondagochtend July 11 rings
at half past twelfth mobile phone Leo Mierop. Ben Sloot. It sounds
quite overstuur. Mierop: "Leo", said Ben, "Pa has not had a heart
attack." It was just as if I moker against my head was. shocked I am
totally wezenloos. Jan was at that time still gereanimeerd. Ten
minutes later he called me again. "Leo, pa is dead." Woensdagochtend
July 14, 1999, Jan Sloot to the general cemetery in a Nieuwegein last
greeting. Fifth Force All employees are present. "Roel Pieper was
still a speech," says Ben Sloot. "At the grave of my father, he
promised that he would do everything to the invention of Jan Sloot
successfully to the world. "

'If Pieper Philips already so easy bedondert, what he will or not with
our purpose? "

Overpeinst Fifth Force shareholder Leo Mierop. "At a time when the
thought of that for the first time came up to me, we found ourselves
in the Picus kistenfabrieken in Eindhoven. Marcel Book-hoom, Rene
Bickel, Jan Sloot, virtually everyone associated with the invention of
Sloot had to do was there. Roel three scientists had just returned to
Philips and was only returned. Not Philips, the invention of Sloot to
exploit, but he himself. As CEO of our company. Everybody was in a
state of euphoria, because we knew that we Pieper with the best man
for this project were in the house. But we also realized that the way
waaróp Pieper director of our company was not right. He Philips has
led to the garden. " 'I just removing Philips? Kolder, reacts Pieper
furieus. "I signed in February 1999 has a contract with STC. (An
American intemettechnologiebedrijf now SeeBeyond. Pieper According to
a contract that is now $ 200 million worth would be red). I had no
motive, the invention interested me no bag, I would go to STC. If I
marked velsachtig doing so would have been, had I not worked so hard
to the invention of Sloot at Philips enter pilots. I honestly played
at Philips. Put me but for the leugendetector. Boekhoom was the person
who helped me delicate negotiations to participate. " But Jan Sloot
also thought that Pieper no pure game played. A long history of
agreements violated and abused his trust had a paranoid man. Decades
earlier was already an invention of Sloot copied, and a few times he
was in the hands of those who are on the coding anticipated. Leo
Mierop: "The fear that others with his technology would get to go,
leaving him only on July 9, 1999. The night that he Pieper home Torn
Perkins (one of the founders of the investor Kleiner Perkins Caufield
& Byers, red) and some bankers ABN Amro - had demonstrated his
invention and he knew that he would be a millionaire within a week.
That was two days before his death. "

Witheet

'Only the paranoids can sur-vive', provides a good example of Spud
speak. Under this oneliner would Sloot may have a long life. Distrust
controlled almost any contact that Jan Sloot maintained. Even his own
children knew not to escape. "Even to me was questioned" says Ben
Sloot. 'Not that I mind of technique and had it might go away. No, in
my case it was my naiveté. Pa was afraid that I would reveal essential
innocence. "So did his invention Sloot always jealously within reach
and provided he sure nobody the crux of its coding system would
understand. "There were often uncomfortable situations continue," says
Marcel Boekhoom. "I still remember the demonstration at the
headquarters of Computer Associates (CA). The engineers suggested CA
Sloot few questions, but he refused to give explanation and continued
to be hullen in foggy formulations. That did it more often and when
people found that strange, ontstak his anger. He behaved often
misunderstood as the inventor. I was there with basically bad. "The
only time that Sloot take away from his invention was made shortly
after the trip to New York. Roel Pieper had to introduce almost
immediately after returning to the Netherlands back in the aircraft
steps. Sloot refused. After intervention by Leo Mierop, the person
having the most trusted Sloot gave with his health kwakkelende
inventor his locker with Marcel Boekhoom. What Sloot did not know -
and Mierop until a few months ago did not know is that the technician
Marius Abel Pieper and Boekhoom would be accompanied on the roadshow
in the Valley. "If Jan had known at that time, had never passed his
invention ', Mierop. "Abel was for him at that time a major threat, as
long as there are no patents were registered, contracts were signed
and he had not been financially compensated." Sloots dismay was great
when in the back of Boekhoorn showed that this invention had passed
with Pieper . Later Sloot could even see that there are other
equipment had been affiliated and attempts were made to open the
locker. "My father was witheet" says Ben Sloot. ' "Here they regret.
Around here, they will," he said. Pa certainly knew that they had
succeeded in the locker to read. Now what more could anyone get twenty
million before he had in his bank account. " 'I do not know," says
Pieper schouderophalend when his situation is. "The cupboard is in any
event not open."

Opsporingsambtenaar

'The Tuesday following the Friday night at home would Pieper Jan all
information about his invention to a notary return. 'That would be Jan
millions of ABN Amro. "At last, recognition and reward. But after
decades lonely to have worked on an unthinkable coding technology, its
interim business and family responsibilities, veronachtzamend, dogged
by profiteers and often by fears digested, Jan Sloot cruel on the
shoulders getikt by the tragic fate. He dies, eternal fame and immense
wealth only a few take him away. In subsequent days, the house of the
family Sloot visited by grieving friends and family members, greedy
heirs and worried business partners. "The family was immediately Sloot
quarrel about money," says Pieper. 'Sloot had Boekhoorn for about five
million guilders a tuft of shares sold. Not equal Sloot had bought a
new house. The first two weeks after the death of the family wanted
nothing. They did not want to talk and they wanted nothing. "Leo
Mierop sees the disorder in the family Sloot and decides to take
immediate action. "In that house that construction wijkje in
Nieuwegein was known as the source of an invention potentially worth
hundreds of billions of dollars. I am in agreement with Boekhoorn the
detective and security company World Wide Security (wws) enabled them
day and night and the house and the family leave monitor. I felt
nattigheid and thought for all those involved at that time was the
wisest. I was the only one who was concerned about that.
Incomprehensible actually. One hundred billion dollars you do not
leave unattended on a zoldertje lie. "Mierop had from the outset as
the person who raised the security-piece of Fifth Force in itself
wanted. "I am ten years opsporingsambtenaar with a full powers. So it
was not so crazy. "Within Fifth Force was Boekhoorn and Ben Sloot
indeed decided to Mierop that role to play. "Also Spud was always
agree been," says Boekhoorn. The suspicions of Mierop apparently not
unfounded. After many years with her father and mother in partners to
be in touch, suddenly Annemarie Sloot, the oldest of two daughters, on
stage and devotes itself a day after the death of her father in the
search of his room. In a statement which they later test, she says the
data around the estate want to find out. She takes two dozen involved,
which they later claimed that there were twelve in folders, and loads
it into the back of the car of her younger brother Johan, the second
son of Sloot. He shows after a difficult period with his father
suddenly remarkable interest in the content of his father's office and
the office. Johan according to his brother Ben had a difficult time
with his father through the curve. Johan, worked at automatiseerder
Logic and the only other person in the family who had sense of
technique, a long time thought that the invention of his father was a
farce. "He simply not believed that it was possible a movie on a
kilobyte to continue," says Ben Sloot. "For my father, there was
almost nothing worse imaginable. His own son who took him seriously.
"Verhuisscène at the house of Sloot by the Mierop hired security
company wws on video. They follow the car with Annemarie and Johan
losses but after five minutes from the eye.

The Decision

Without after the death of Jan Sloot to worry about the safety of the
invention and the source code, Roel Pieper directed at the
continuation of the business. No day is sacred. Mierop: "We had not
yet left the cemetery or Pieper demanded by Boekhoom a thirty percent
interest in Fifth Force. He felt that his role had become more
important. There have Boekhoom and when I put a stop to. "Despite
signs Pieper on July 20 with Marcel Boekhoom and remarkable enough
without the other shareholders, that the documents later not to see-
half contract with ABN Amro, which states that the agreement remains
in force if the 'Decision' is taken. That is the decision referred to
the invention actually going to operate. Pieper will have to prove
that this is possible without Jan Sloot. The Decision will be taken
after eight weeks. ABN Amro suggests a loan of two million guilders
available, money that is used for the secret of the invention above
water and the exploitation to prepare. The family Sloot, according to
the contract all material that the invention has to do, transfer to
the firm The Fifth Force, or Dipro Research as the company in the
official documents. After that ABN Amro twelve enhalf million guilders
to the family transfer. Two weeks after the funeral of Jan Sloot
Pieper gets to a notary of CMS Derks Star Busmann in Hilversum from
the hands of Ben and his mother handed over the equipment which Sloot
demonstration at the home had Pieper. It is accompanied by other
material that possible with the invention of doing things. After weeks
duimendraaien can Marius Abel finally to find the source.

Antibes

In the same period travels Leo Mierop off to its vakantieadres in
southern France. He Pieper light on the vierentwintiguursbewaking of
Sloots house. "Get them out of there immediately," sommeerde Roel. He
was not completely agree. If it would come, it would be able to harm
his career, thought-ie. "Mierop gives wws contract the work to stop.
"The wild coincidence that shortly after Boekhoom, Pieper, The Young
and I have not twenty miles apart were," says Mierop. "Pieper was of
them and he did not know how quickly he had us all together. He had
suddenly very much hurry to the structure of control within The Fifth
Force to his hand. That was per se in southern France. After endless
discussions with the lawyer of Marcel and Pieper, and after many faxes
and phone calls, we had a contract in which Marcel and I could find
us. Until that moment I could ever thanks to the powers of Mooijaart
and inherit Sloot on the majority. With Marcel together we represent
an interest of around eighty-five percent of Fifth Force. "Boekhoom:"
Pieper had already much longer enough to produce a bijdehante kitchen-
trader and a contractor to negotiate. Mierop was the far-v trouwensman
of Sloot. That did nothing without his first Mierop had consulted.
Pieper wanted to go the way to a professional organization down. He
threatened them to be different. "Saturday i August 1999 moves on the
screen terdek of Piepers yacht in the port of Antibes Boekhoom, De
Jong, Mierop and Pieper have signed the contract that the former Crown
Prince full control over Fifth Force. 'But after I urge Roel had
insisted on for the last four and one million guilders to me to pay
for a few percent of the shares that I had delivered him, "says
Boekhoom. "He was not quick with drawing the purse."

No invention

In the first days of August 1999 are gradually the contours of a
business drama visible. Marius Abel, who independently responsible for
navorsingen to the technology of Sloot, concludes that the blueprint
of the invention, the source code, is not among the material is drawn
from the family Sloot has received. "We have found something ', reacts
Pieper. 'But it is not clear what. Even through reverse engineering,
there was nothing more to do. I think that the technical transfer
could only take place if we were next to the inventor to sit down to
write it. "According to the expert Abel is the image of the
demosysteem that under Mierop and Boekhoom still with Jan de Jong in
Bloemendaal , of lesser quality. In the box is located, as opposed to
the device that went along to America, a hard disk. "We have not
opened the system, but as such, can analyze 'Say reporting to the
shareholders. "This system includes the invention." A remarkable
conclusion. The device works, and can simply 'as such videostukken
(via pre-selection with chipcards) play. " Sloot was indeed the
evening for the demo at home Pieper a hard disk in his invention. "As
a stopgap for a broken chip ', says Ben Sloot. "The disk was used only
when replacement memory." 'That means that the system had to include
the invention do, "says Mierop. "There were many people Pieper evening
to witness. I trusted that conclusion of Abel. But I was in no way to
check whether the right. I would have liked to have seen that the
court had looked forward laboratory. It ran here to billions of
dollars. "The message of Abel and Pieper stores as a bomb. 'Back and
forth it was immediately pointed accusing fingers, "says Boekhoom.
'Direction a couple Sloot family members and Bloemendaal direction.
"Mierop:' A matter of logical thought." "Absurd!" Says Pieper. "I had
every interest in ensuring that the invention would be above water."

Overruled

Perhaps it to his ten-year stay in Germany, with the motto "Vertrau
and gut ist, ist besser Kontrolle" by Pieper with full conviction is
out. Behind the backs of Mierop, and contrary to what he previously in
a week he had agreed in Antibes, enable Pieper another investigation
in order to identify the source. Despite a meeting between Pieper and
wws on July 27 which remarkably enough only to the security of his
home is discussed. with Mierop trusted wws is replaced by Control
Risks from Amsterdam, 'üc was furious, "says Mierop." formally But I
could no longer do. m Antibes because we had control in the hands of
Spud. now, we had absolutely no grip on the case. "" Mierop was
overruled by Spud ', agrees Boekhoom. "Pieper and De Jong were keen
Control Risks that the investigation would do, and I saw no reason in
this debate to continue." However, the decision by the CEO drives a
wedge between shareholders . Mierop and Mooijaart see a scenario
unfolded in which they themselves no longer in play. Mierop lists:
"The technical analysis of the invention was completely in the hands
of loyal adjutant Piepers Marius Abel. Self had the reins of the
holding firmly 'vastgegrepen. Previously, he had even demanded that
the lawyer Boekhoom against everybody's sense was replaced by Steven
Schuit, a guy who excelled in writing gepeperde accounts. By the time
it was known that the invention had sought were almost all positions
inside and around The Fifth Force by Pieper. only Boekhoom was at the
insistence of the shareholders have an important place on the board of
directors. But Boekhoom dared or wanted the confrontation with Pieper
not. me was when he won the detection from hands. I can only conclude:
Roel Pieper is as refined as the deep sea. "

Safe

While the complottheorieen in the head of Leo Mierop slow
deliberations begin on August 10, a month after the death of Jan
Sloot, Control Risks for detecting the source of the coding system.
The company will be initially assisted by detectives from wws who have
much longer with the issue. One of the first steps is the house of the
family to a thorough examination. But just before the detectives could
search the house, surprise Fifth Force managers Marius Abel and Jan de
Jong with the widow Sloot an unannounced visit. She subjects the
werkzolder of the inventor to a detailed inspection. Abel and De Jong
leave the house with a few belongings of the deceased. The mistrust of
Pieper and his trustees laait thereby further. 'To this day I still do
not know what they have taken away', says Mierop. 'There are no
reports of it. "Also Control Risks can be found later be relevant
technical equipment. As the developer has determined the material is
all part of the technical supervisor Marius Abel returned. But none of
the material which is found later and the family is submitted
according to Abel source of the invention. Would Sloot then code them
in the grave have taken? 'Highest unlikely', believes Mierop. "He
would be four days after the presentation of the tens of thousands of
lines of source code at the notary return. That key you do not even
from your bare head on a Sunday afternoon. He had the code schedule.
That has Sloot me a few days before his death told yet. "Another
possibility is that Jan Sloot his invention to a safer area had. "That
man was a few days each week" somewhere far, "says Pieper. 'From his
wife then I heard that he was gone. Nobody knew where. Maybe he had a
shed somewhere. We do not know. Nobody knows. He said that they also
often against us: "Every week I put down something somewhere. In a
safe." He told everyone at that he has already been threatened with
death. He so wanted to protect his family. "Sloot also had several
occasions to let everyone involved know that he has a safe at ABN Amro
in Nieuwegein which he possessed the source code preserved. If the
safe in the presence of Ben and the widow Sloot is opened, it appears
that only information about some predecessors of the invention to
contain. The source of the Sloot Digital Coding System continues to
trace. The department monitors corporate securiryvan ABN Amro or in
the vicinity of Utrecht, Nieuwegein Wooden and where a bank is a safe
Sloot. Nowhere in the area is a safe found. Control Risks, after all
the corridors of Sloot. The contents of his computer, electronic
calendar, mobile phone and car navigation system will be examined. All
relationships are approached by the inventor, Mierop can tell what he
knows and the one for a family to be interviewed. "We have hundreds of
thousands of dollars spent on research," says Marcel Boekhoorn. 'But
it has nothing. The apparatus that we had them in the Valley, has
never been recovered. What I still do not understand is that the
mathematician and computer scientist Pieper, often with Sloot on the
invention has spoken, has always claimed a large part to understand,
while he is no longer able to produce. An incredible piece of Dutch
engineering is simply disappeared from the earth. I can still believe
it. We are too cheap. We had already Sloot in the early money and must
give the source code to assert. Then we were now definitely on its
way. "

Winterslaap

. "The risk of murder, manslaughter or Helpfulness to suicide is also
considered very small ", reads the conclusion in the fifth report of
Control Risks. It mentions two theories about people who could benefit
from the death of the inventor. The first is that Sloot possible 'self
interest to rijn death. " The technique would not be complete and
would Sloot through a fatal drug awareness wrong way have chosen. The
second theory suggests that someone is already in possession of it has
the technology and therefore Sloot advantage in the death of Sloot.
"This person would become very powerful", concludes the passage. Also
Annemarie and Johan Sloot mentioned as potential owners. Who would
have even more of Sloots death may have benefited? 'Spud by Control
Risks seen on the head, "says Leo Mierop. "Everyone has heard except
the CEO. We had never Pieper just have to accept that the
investigation took. If someone has had an opportunity to vote on the
technique to take and also have the necessary capabilities available
to those in kapselen, it is he. Pieper had the opportunity to in the
last meeting we had as Fifth Force, on November 2, 1999, the case to
clarify - I then proposed that the Public Ministry involve. But Roel
veegde the subject immediately table. He wanted to not even discuss.
"Similarly, the subject autopsy revealed Mierop raised, and that
proposal was adopted by Pieper off, says Mierop. 'There is in November
asked if the company wanted a decision on autopsy take, reacts Pieper.
'I said that we could not agree. Sloot's wife wanted at that moment it
is not. He had just died in her arms. "Boekhoorn:" I am still
wondering how this man is deceased. Opgraven was all misunderstandings
should be eliminated, the best. "Section has never been done, although
the family later to the request itself has done. Pieper proposes Fifth
Force in a state of hibernation, or hibernate, effort. Interested
parties are moegestreden and have no sense in spending more money to
lose. Boekhoorn: "The costs went by, who wanted after all these shit
are still cents continue pieces? Roel had four million lost, I had
lost seven million, Leen and Leo had a lot of money going to see smoke
and ABN Amro was more than one million lost. At some time you have to
take your loss. I also had other deals, I do not live. "The only who
has had to go from life, no longer lived. The heirs Sloot however,
continues to count the millions that ABN Amro would be transferred if
the material to Fifth Force (Dipro) would be transferred. "As far as
we know we have the invention of my father handed over," says Ben
Sloot. "We have a lawyer Jan Bou-man turned to a matter for them. In
addition, we have asked him to address the issue at the Public
Ministry to maps and the application for autopsy at the time. But to
this day, we hear nothing from him. "Bouman would in the case of Sloot
in his hand Pieper may require to provide evidence that the code is
not really recovered. Bouman: "The case is still pending. I am now at
the OM. "

Endangered

The source of the coding of Sloot is gone, the Fifth Force
shareholders are together overhoop and possible miljardenbedrijf is in
a deep sleep. Is there another way? "Yes," says Jos van Rossem
decisive. "I have access to the source code. That I have since the
summer of 1996 in the safe at a notary. I have him together with Jan
Sloot filed. I can independently safe. But I shall not do so. I do not
want the envelope loses its authenticity. "Jos van Rossem is a former
business partner of Jan Sloot. Starting 1995, the former siga -
rettenautomatenhandelaar with a broken remote reparatiewinkel Jan
Sloot inside. "I got into conversation with Jan, and he began to
tell," says Van Rossem. "John had a reparatiedatabase developed even
at the very information coderingstechnologie was based. I saw good
opportunities for his art. Ultimately, we developed three plans: the
workplace build, repair system to bring the man and his code-
ringstechnologie. The latter is what the Sloot Digital Coding System
". The invention so. I have invested millions. "At the end of 1997
came to a break with Sloot. "It slorpte too much money and there was
nothing. The end of my financial standing was near. When I stopped
paying, I was no longer welcome at Sloot. "Beginning 1999 learns From
Rossem'dat the pressure is suddenly in Sloots workshop. "Expensive
cars, men in tight packs, I knew right that a couple Sloot had
attracted new investors. But I am the first patent on Sloots
coderingstechnologie. "Van Rossem fish with an orange ribbon plastered
patent from an envelope. 'Look', he says. 'Octrooinummer 1005930. In
April 1997 sought and November 1998. Two years earlier than the patent
of Sloot itself. "Van Rossem viewing activities around Sloot therefore
suspicious. "He has signed a contract with me that the revenue
sharing. Together with another investor who later bijkwam, we would
share the proceeds fairly. That contract is still in force. So that
Sloot Fifth Force later went into the sea, is questionable. But I
wanted to proceed with v / deem until Fifth Force has been a success.
"However Fifth Force is still no success. And Jan Sloot is dead.
"After the death of Jan I have spoken with Bickel and Boekhoorn. I
asked two and a half million guilders for the safe at the notary to
open their disposal to give that information. That money was just out
of my investment. I have not abandoned my right to the invention.
Fifth Force had in any event have to share with me. Bickel and
Boekhoorn offered me a package of shares in their company. They had no
more money. That I am not familiar. "Boekhoorn said to have been
convinced that the source was not inde safe. "What there was, was
there since 1996. The technique of Sloot was in the meantime much
further developed. "After Sloots death takes Van Rossem several times
to contact the survivors. "To inform them how it was made, he says.
Stakeholders believe that he has other motives. "My father was the
brother of Jos van Rossem threatened with death," says Ben Sloot. "He
wanted to encourage him to go back together." Van Rossem finds it a
onsmakelijk story. "My brother has never done. There was no motive. I
just wanted that Fifth Force would succeed. And if Fifth Force that
will, it will really be doing things with me. "

The Sloot Digital Coding System (soes), the world opschudden: A new
alphabet for digital informatieopslag that no longer uses the binary
system of nulletjes and eentjes, but a much more efficient method
uses. The principle worked seemingly simple. Like there for a piece of
text but a limited number of characters available, a film from a
finite number of colors and sounds built. All these basic facts were
in five algorithms in five different memories. By storing films would
each algorithm a maximum size of 74 megabytes. In total, therefore,
370 megabytes: the engine of the invention. The only thing needed for
that to start was an appropriate key. Sloot calculated for each page
of a book, or any image of a film, a unique code whose whole again
resulted in a unique code. The latter code, the key, took only one
kilobyte memory consuming, regardless of the length of the film or the
thickness of the book. On a simple smart card could then be saved
dozens of keys. Someone might, for example, paid with a mobile phone
within a few seconds the keys of a number of films that can obtain at
home via a player with the basisalgoritmes Server. A technology in
short, with an incredible potential for creative destruction. All
geluidsdragende Industries CD, DVD, tape, diskette - would no longer
exist. Companies invest billions in fiber optic data networks either.
The ancient koperdraadje would suddenly turn gold. The same applies to
mobile. And what about all conceivable forms of consumer electronic
image and sound production or other information? Nothing would remain
the same. The company with licenses to SDCS would, as suggested Roel
Pieper handenwrijvend finds hundreds of billions of dollars worth.

None of Jan Sloot demo devices contained a hard disk (this is verified
in many demo's) accept the one he used in his latest demonstration
July 9, 1999 at Roel Pieper home where Jan Sloot demonstrated the
inventing to Torn Perkins (one of the founders of investor Kleiner
Perkins Caufield & Byers) and some ABN-AMRO bankers. Jan Sloot added
this hard disk the evening before this demo (according his not
technical son) as emergency solution to replace a defect memory chip.
Two days later Jan Sloot died.

This demo device with hard disk was not disappeared after Jan Sloot
death. This device is still at home by Jan de Jong http://www.favonius.net/page/162
in Bloemendaal (The Netherlands) and is a working device it can
playback movies from chip cards. Marius Abel http://www.favonius.net/page/211
who was personal responsible for the research of technology or
information what was left after Jan Sloots dead came to the conclusion
that the source code was not found and that this demo device was from
less quality. Roel Pieper http://www.favonius.net/page/190 added that
with reverse engineering this working demo device they couldn't found
out how it worked.

As you can see at their website http://www.favonius.net that later
they started to do the same; investing in IT companies and even do it
for ABN-AMRO bank.

I worked for Pieper in 1992 at Ungermann Bass, where he picked ATM over Ethernet (see wiki on Roel Pieper).

So it does not surprise me at all that he believed Sloot. Maybe he had messed up at Philps like he did Ungermann Bass and many other companies.

Desperation is the mother of invention ... and Roel is like Rumplestiltskin, except everything turns to shit instead.

I sometimes wonder if some people think I am a crackpot, but I suspect
it is probably more just people don't care, as it is mostly technology
just making unpopular tradeoffs (mostly speed over bitrate).

though, whatever...

but, current stats, for running on my K10:
BTLZH: decode ~ 450..520 MB/sec, encode=slow;

BTIC1H: decode ~ 250..384 Mpix/sec, encode ~90 Mpix/sec.
Q/bpp appears to be in the same general area as MPEG-2.
Q/bpp may need more extensive testing.
